PHS Alumni basketball games are held
Prairie High School held their annual Alumni Basketball games Tuesday, Dec. 26.
There were 12 women participating and 21 men.
The women played two 20 minute running clock halves while the men played six 10-minute periods due to the greater numbers.
Jordyn Higgins, Krystin Uhlenkott Schlader, Kyndahl Ulmer Brumer, Leah Higgins, Kayla Schumacher Ross and Madison Shears made up one team while Jamie Chicane Scheffler, Ellea Uhlenkott, Ali Rehder, Ciara Chaffee, Tara Schlader and Laney Forsmann made up the other team.
The first team listed jumped out to a 15-2 lead as Shears hit a pair of 3-pointers and Jordyn Higgins added another. However the other team rallied and the first team led just 26-24 at halftime.
The first team pulled away in the second half though, outscoring the second team 28-18 to win 54-42.
The first men’s team was made up of Devin Ross, Alex McElroy, Pat McWilliams, Jake Bruner, Brody Hasselstrom, Brandon Higgins, Quirt Goeckner, Jon Rehder, Lane Schumacher and Cole Schlader. The second team was made up of Dylan Schumacher, Glenn Poxleitner, Calvin Hinkelman, Adam Forsmann, Kenneth Enneking, Shane Hason, Tanner Ross, Travis Alfrey, Wyatt Ross, Colton McElroy and Rhett Schlader.
The first team led most of the way but the second team rallied in the final two periods to pull out an 85-82 win.
The first team led 15-11 after 1 period, 33-20 after the second, just 42-41 at the half, 60-51 after 4 periods and 74-70 after 5 periods before being outscored 8-15 in the final frame. The second team didn’t lead until the final couple of minutes.
Proceeds from the game went to the Prairie athletics fund.
