Lady Pirates win big at Potlatch
The
Prairie Lady Pirates opened the 2025 portion of their season with an
easy win over an overmatched Potlatch team 78-6 at Potlatch Friday,
Jan. 10. Potlatch lost 69-14 the first time they played Prairie but this time they were down to just 6 players and were missing a pair of seniors that played back in November. Prairie outscored the Loggers 25-0 in the first quarter as Lexi Schumacher racked up 13 points while hitting 6 of 9 shots. Sage Elven added 6 points while Hailey Hanson and Kylie Schumacher scored 3 each. Prairie forced 17 turnovers in the opening quarter leading to a lot of easy transition baskets. In the second quarter they eased off on the defense. Kylie Schumacher scored a putback and Elven scored a pair of baskets to put Prairie up 31-0 before Potlatch finally dented the scoreboard with a basket at the 5:54 mark. Lexi Schumacher, Ellie Nuxoll and Elven each added a basket to make it 37-2 at the half. Prairie then scored the first 21 points of the third quarter making it a 27-0 run. Elven scored 6 in that 21-0 run with Lexi Schumacher adding 5 and Hanson 3. Kylie Schumacher, Aubree Rehder and Mia Anderson scored 2 each and Sydney Shears 1. Potlatch finally scored again with 2 free throws at the 43 second mark. Nuxoll and Lexi Schumacher then each scored a basket to make it 62-4 after 3 quarters. Hanson scored to open the fourth quarter, which was played with a running clock. Potlatch then scored their final points of the game at the 4:52 mark. Prairie then scored the final 14 points of the game. Kylie Schumacher scored 8 of those and Lexi Schumacher the other 6. Lexi Schumacher wound up with 28 points, which put her over 1000 points in her career. Elven scored 18 with Kylie Schumacher adding 15, Hanson 8, Nuxoll 4, Rehder and Anderson 2 each and Shears 1. Prairie doubled up Potlatch on the boards, 46-23. Elven had 9 to lead the Pirates with Kylie Schumacher adding 8 rebounds. Lexi Schumacher had a double-double as she had 11 steals in the game. Hanson added 8 steals. 9 different players had a steal out of the 11 that saw playing time. Shears had 4 assists while Lexi Schumacher had 3. 8 different players had at least 1 assist. Prairie was 36 for 77 from the field, 47%, and 2 for 4 at the line, 50%. Potlatch was 2 for 27 from the field, 7%, and 2 for 2 at the line. Prairie is now 9-1 on the season and 6-0 in league play.
