To the Library and Beyond
Next week we bid farewell to January and hello to February.  February is Black History Month, Low Vision Awareness Month and National Library Lovers’ Month.
On 2 February – every year – we may take time to check if the groundhog sees his shadow, thereby promising either an early end of winter or another six weeks – until 15 March this year - which is 4 days before the official “first day of spring.”  The 3rd of February, as the first Saturday in February, is designated as “Take Your Child to the Library Day.”
Traditionally, the Board of Directors of Prairie Community Library, Inc. holds their annual meeting in February to elect officers for the next twelve months.  If you are a mystery aficionado and enjoy solving mysteries (while following the house rules) you might be interested in joining the Library Board of directors.
More statistics from our favorite Library:  In 2019 Prairie Community Library welcomed 2,349 visitors, and in the first nine months of 2023 Carissa Jones & Company provided educational entertainment to 533 attendees at Story Hour at the Library.  Be assured, Story Hour will resume when the Library reopens!
The volunteers who manage Prairie Community Library endeavor to maintain a basic and transparent operation.  We value commitment to our mission of service and would be seriously hampered if we were to jeopardize our reputation for being trustworthy, truthful and reliably honest.  We invite our patrons to recommend improvements to the organization’s direction, priorities and customer service when we reopen.
Please continue returning any items you may have checked out from the Library to the drop box at the back, north end, of the Community Hall building and encouraging your friends to do the same.  Thank you!
Don’t forget the Center for Discovery is sponsoring the Missoula Children’s Theater March 4 – 8.
