Lady Pirates win 3
The
Prairie Lady Pirates had 3 blowout wins this past week. On Tuesday,
Jan. 21, they hosted Clearwater Valley and won 92-28. On Saturday, Jan.
25, they traveled to Troy and won 70-12. Finally on Monday, Jan. 26,
they traveled to Moscow and beat Logos 65-28. A game scheduled for
Wednesday, Jan. 22 at Cottonwood against Orofino was cancelled by
Orofino. The win against C.V. was the 300th win of head coach Lori Mader’s coaching career. She is in her 15th season so has been averaging over 20 wins per season. After the other two wins this week, her record now stands at 302-79 for a winning percentage of .793. Vs. C.V. The game against C.V. started 9-0
for the Pirates. Kylie Schumacher scored the game’s first 2 points.
Lexi Schumacher made a free throw, Sydney Shears scored on a drive and Sage Elven scored twice to make it 9-0.C.V. got on the board with 2 free throws at the 5:28 mark. Kylie and Lexi Schumacher each scored to make it 13-2. C.V. then got their first basket on a 3-pointer. That was followed by a basket by Shears, 2 free throws by Lexi Schumacher and a lay-up by Elven to make it 19-5. The Rams then scored their first 2-point basket but Prairie came back with a 10-0 run. Hailey Hanson hit a 3 to start it. Ellie Nuxoll made a free throw then Lexi Schumacher scored 3 straight baskets off of C.V. turnovers, 2 of them steals by Lexi. That made it 29-7. After another C.V. basket, Lexi closed out the first quarter with a 3-pointer and a lay-up to make it 34-9. C.V. scored to open the second quarter and Kylie Schumacher answered with a lay-up. After another C.V. basket, Nadia Cash and Elven each scored and Lexi Schumacher added a free throw to make it 41-13. After a C.V. free throw, a steal by Kylie Schumacher led to a lay-up by Lexi Schumacher. The Rams then scored a basket and a free throw before Erica Schlader got in the scoring column with a lay-up. After another C.V. basket, Aubree Rehder closed out the first half scoring with a bank shot at the buzzer. The third quarter was nearly a duplicate of the first quarter as Prairie outscored C.V. 35-7 to take an 82-26 lead into the fourth quarter. In the first quarter Lexi Schumacher scored 16 of Prairie’s 34 points. In the third quarter 6 different players scored at least 4 points. Lexi had 4 baskets including a 3 for 9 points. Elven and Kylie Schumacher each had 3 baskets for 6 points. Nuxoll had 2 baskets and 2 free throws for 6 points. Finally Sydney Shears had 2 baskets and Mia Anderson had a basket and 2 free throws for 4 points each. The fourth quarter was played with a running clock and Prairie outscored the Rams 10-2. Rehder scored 5 on 2 baskets and a free throw. Nuxoll scored a basket and a free throw and Schlader added a basket. Lexi Schumacher wound up with 28 points to lead the scoring. Elven with 14, Kylie Schumacher with 12 and Nuxoll with 10 were also in double figures. Shears scored 8, Rehder 7, Anderson and Schlader 4 each and Hanson 3. Prairie had a 44-33 advantage on the boards led by Kylie Schumacher with 9 and Elven with 8. 9 different plays had at least 2 steals led by Shears and Kylie Schumacher with 7 each. Nuxoll, Rehder and Lexi Schumacher had 5 steals each. Lexi and Kylie Schumacher each had 5 assists while Hanson and Shears had 4 assists each. Prairie was 38 for 78 from the field, 49%, and 11 for 18 at the line, 61%. C.V. was 11 for 42 from the field, 26%, and 5 for 12 at the line, 42%. Prairie won the 2-quarter JV game 34-7. Prairie jumped out to a 10-0 lead with Mia Anderson scoring 2 baskets while Zoey Behler, Reagan Brannan and Beka Schumacher scored a basket each. C.V. got on the scoreboard at the 3:14 mark. Anderson followed with a pair of baskets to make it 14-2. After a C.V. free throws, Erica Schlader scored the final 5 points of the quarter on 2 baskets and a free throw. Prairie then scored the first 15 points of the second quarter for a 34-3 lead. Beka Schumacher started the run with a lay-up then Schlader scored 2 baskets and a 3. Faith Cash scored 2 baskets and Kenly Forsmann finished off Prairie’s scoring with a steal that led to a lay-up. C.V. then scored a free throw and a 3 to close out the game. Schlader scored 12 points to lead Prairie with Anderson scoring 8, Schumacher and Cash 4 each and Brannan, Behler and Forsmann 2 each. Prairie controlled the boards 29-12 with Brannan grabbing 8 to lead the team. Schlader had 7 steals while Brannan had 5 steals and 3 assists. Troy then scored their only points of the quarter at the 7:05 mark. Prairie ended the half with an 18-0 run for a 40-5 halftime lead. Hanson started it with a lay-up. Cash followed with a lay-up. Elven stole the ball and scored and then scored again. Schlader stole the ball and scored. Kylie Schumacher scored a lay-up. Elven stole the ball and scored again. Hanson hit a 3 and then Lexi Schumacher was fouled at the buzzer and made 1 of 2 free throws. Troy broke their scoring drought with a free throw to open the second half then Prairie went on another 14-0 run. Prairie had baskets by Kylie Schumacher, Hanson, Kylie again, Lexi Schumacher, Nuxoll, Hanson again and Kylie again for their 14-0 run. That put Prairie up 54-6. Troy scored 2 more free throws at the 4:08 mark to break the run. Anderson then scored a lay-up. After another Troy free throw, Lexi Schumacher scored after a steal by Anderson. Troy’s first basket of the second half came at the 52 second mark. Lexi Schumacher then closed out the third quarter scoring with a 3-pointer as Prairie took a 61-11 lead into the fourth quarter. Troy’s only point of the fourth quarter was a free throw with half a second left. Lexi Schumacher scored 22 to lead the Pirates. Kylie Schumacher added 16 with Hanson and Elven scoring 11 each. Nuxoll scored 4 while Cash, Anderson and Schlader had 2 each. Prairie had a 44-32 rebounding advantage. At Logos The game at Logos saw Prairie jump out to a 24-5 lead by the end of the first quarter. Prairie upped the lead to 39-14 at halftime. They continued to pull away in the third quarter, outscoring Logos 16-9 to take a 55-24 lead into the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter was played with a running clock with Prairie still outscoring the Knights 10-8. Kylie Schumacher led the scoring with 18 points and had 8 rebounds. Elven added 17 points and led the team with 10 rebounds. Lexi Schumacher was also in double figures with 15 points. Hanson had 8 points, 7 assists and 6 steals. Nuxoll scored 3 while Anderson and Schlader scored 2 each. Prairie is now 16-1 on the season and 12-0 in league play. The JV team won a 2-quarter game 37-5.
