To the Library and Beyond Five directors attended the Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors of Prairie Community Library, Inc. We reelected President Emmett Wilson, Vice-president Carissa Jones, Treasurer Colleen Wilson and Secretary Kathleen Steinke; we also elected new Director Joan Brown to the office of Historian. We are looking forward to moving the Library back into the Community Hall basement. “Volunteers do not necessarily have the time but they have the heart.” This move is only the beginning of many volunteer opportunities for a vast array of skills and varying lengths of time. “You make a living by what you get; you make a life by what you give.” Please contact the Library by email (cottonwoodlib@gmail.com) to volunteer your special talents. If you prefer to volunteer by mail, our address is Post Office Box 334 in Cottonwood (83522). “Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect this nation's compassion, unselfish caring, patience, and just plain loving one another.” Much of our moving work will be labor-intensive and demanding physical strength. If you know someone who would like a one-year free subscription to borrowing privileges at our Library, a donor is offering each volunteer who helps move the Library back “home” the opportunity to name a family of their choice for this promotion. While we continue our observance of Black History Month, Low Vision Awareness Month, and National Library Lovers' Month, we also celebrate Presidents’ Day on Monday, February 19. More statistics from our favorite Library: In 2020 Prairie Community Library loaned 2,178 items. In 2019 volunteers added 779 Items to the Library collection. The volunteers who manage and operate Prairie Community Library endeavor to maintain a basic and transparent operation. We invite our patrons to recommend improvements to the organization’s direction, priorities and customer service when we reopen. Please continue returning any items you may have checked out from the Library to the drop box at the back, north end, of the Community Hall building and encouraging your friends to do the same. Thank you! |
