District Championship Vs. Lapwai
The District championship game against Lapwai is one the Lady Pirates would rather forget.
Lapwai came out in full-court pressure and unlike the other two games this year, did not let up. Kylie Schumacher looks to score against Lapwai.
Even tougher than the full-court pressure was Lapwai’s half court defense which was aimed at not letting Lexi Schumacher get a good shot and collapsing on anyone who got the ball in the lane.
Prairie didn’t score until the 2:48 mark when Sage Elven hit a turnaround shot in the low block. That was after Lapwai had built a 0-8 lead.
Elven added a free throw and Kylie Schumacher a lay-up as Prairie trailed 5-11 at the end of the first quarter.
Prairie was able to keep it close until the fourth quarter due to the fact that Lapwai wasn’t shooting much better than Prairie. In fact Prairie outscored Lapwai in the second quarter 6-4 as they closed within 4 by halftime, 11-15.
Elven scored 2 free throws and a putback in the quarter while Kylie and Lexi Schumacher added a free throw each.
