To the Library and Beyond As we arrive at the end of February celebrating Black History, Low Vision Awareness, and Library Lovers across the nation we find an invitation to “Tell A Fairy Tale” on Monday, February 26. For the month of March, Prairie Community Library assigned updating scrutiny to Library Rules; this year we can congratulate each other for updating the Rules in July of 2023. March is designated as National Reading Month in honor of Theodor Seuss Giesel who gifted the world with “Dr. Seuss.” March is also dedicated to American Red Cross, Music In Our Schools, National Nutrition, Read Across America, Women’s History, and Youth Arts. March 2 was the birthday of Theodor Seuss Giesel and now that day is designated as Read Across America Day. Recommendations to celebrate or promote this day include making a date with a book (because you are never alone with a good book), throw a Dr. Seuss birthday party, reward your family for reading, and create your own book! Library volunteers are looking forward to moving the Library back to the “home space” and we are very grateful to those who have volunteered to help. In 2023 Prairie Community Library loaned 2,171 items, 1,484 of which were children’s items. The volunteers who manage and operate Prairie Community Library endeavor to maintain a basic and transparent operation. We invite our patrons to recommend improvements to the organization’s direction, priorities and customer service when we reopen. We do ask that you not leave books on top of the Library Book Drop box because it is not always checked every day. Thank you! Please remember the Center For Discovery is hosting the Missoula Children’s Theater March 4 – 8. |
