Cottonwood City Council meets
The Cottonwood City Council held their March meeting Monday, March 11.
They approved holding the annual community cleanup from April 1 to June 30 if Walco agrees to cooperate by providing a roll-off. Ordinance #263 was approved which corrects the legal description of the school property at the track/football complex that was recently annexed into the city limits. Resolution 2024-01, the Fair Housing Month Proclamation was approved. April is Fair Housing Month. An Arbor Day proclamation was approved. Arbor Day is set for April 26. By making the proclamation the city can apply for Arbor Day grants. A catering permit applied for by Keuterville Pub & Grub for the YWCA Purse Auction set for the Community Hall on April 14 was approved. An SRF Loan Application through the Idaho Division of Environmental Quality was approved. In his police report, Terry Cochran reported Officer Jason Rambo responded to a report of a suicidal subject which resulted in a pursuit and multiple felony charges. He had a rider with him during most of February who is interested in the position with the Cottonwood Police Department and has submitted an application. In the water report, Debby O’Neill reported they pumped 2,610,700 gallons in February and sold 2,229,050 for a loss of 338,113 gallons or 12.95%. There were no new leaks reported. The well houses have been painted on the inside and most of the hydrants have been pressure tested. Once Well #2 goes back online the city will flush all the hydrants and then chlorinate the system. In the sewer report Brett Miller reported no violations in February. They met with some of the landowners near the treatment system with regard to the upcoming sewer project. Kristy Holthaus reported a new culvert was installed at East and Gilmore Streets. The new crosswalk sings have been installed on East and Foster after a demonstration on them at the Elementary School. The city crew are still working on replacing street signs. Linda Nida reported the office and library at the Hall are being painted. They are still waiting on the work to be finished. A park meeting was held last Friday with Wemhoff Architecture, the City and Wimer Corporation on the lost of things that need to be finished on the Pavilion project. They are also working on Wi-Fi for the security cameras. The Airport had a LifeFlight fixed wing plane land there. They looked into this and it rarely happens that LifeFlight will bring in a fixed wing plane. It is only if the patient to be transported is taken for a longer distance. The Fire Department had just 1 call and it was a false alarm as the painters at the high school after the flooding incident there accidently tripped the alarm. Holthaus said she is still trying to meet with the roofing company about doing a membrane on the roof of the fire station similar to what is done on the high school gym roof. The meeting adjourned at 7:28 p.m. The next regular meeting will be Monday, April 8 at 7 p.m. It may possibly be back in the Community Hall meeting room. |
