To the Library and Beyond
This week we owe boundless gratitude to our volunteers: Joan Brown our ramrod, Carissa Jones, Cindy Wilson, Colleen Wilson, Emmett Wilson and three nameless [so far] high school students.  All shelving has been returned to the Library; boxes of books are next on the schedule.  Apologies to Kristin Frish for the unauthorized change of spelling for her last name last week!  Volunteering helps us to build our networks, and improves physical and mental health and wellbeing.
We continue Mental Health Awareness Month while we encourage everyone to Get Caught Reading.  We will continue to observe National Mobility Awareness Month and Older Americans Month.
Sunday 5 May is National Cartoonists Day.  We have three purposes for the week of 5 – 11 May:  We applaud Children’s Books; we encourage Privacy as a Choice and we observe Deaf Awareness.  And as a weekly exercise, 8 – 18 May we celebrate the fact that Reading Is Fun.
In 2023 – January through September – Prairie Community Library loaned 2,171 items.  In 2021, 719 people participated in Story Hour.  Don’t we like big numbers!
The volunteers who manage and operate Prairie Community Library aspire to join forces with partners and projects that complement our missions and purposes.  The focus of Prairie Community Library for May is updating documentation of procedures.
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful and committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”  Send your volunteer message to cottonwoodlib@gmail.com.
Please recommend improvements to the Library’s direction, priorities and customer service.  Thank you all!
