To the Library and Beyond
So many people I forgot last week!  Tremendous thanks to Owen Tran, Briggs Rambo, Wyatt Latimer, Kristin Frish, and Lynn Danly.  Volunteering helps us celebrate our gifts by giving something back.
We recall that May is dedicated to awareness of Mental Health and Mobility; and we want to “Get Caught Reading” the Short Stories we write about “Older Americans.”
On Sunday, May 12, Mothers’ Day, we honor all mothers, especially if you realize we couldn’t do much without them.  It is also the last day of “Children’s Book Week,” an observance that is scheduled at different times each year, the only feeble excuse I offer for missing the beginning.  If you find yourself with no mother or children you could celebrate “Limerick Day” by composing your own limerick.  Sunday is also the beginning of “Reading Is Fun Week.”  Friday 17 May is “National Bike To Work Day,” and Saturday 18 May is Armed Forces Day.
In 2021 Prairie Community Library librarians greeted 2,075 visitors in the Library.  In 2023 we loaned 1,484 children’s items, alone.  These statistics are a little more impressive when you consider your Library is open fewer than 104 days each year.
The volunteers who manage and operate Prairie Community Library value integrity and aspire to practice and encourage integrity at all times.  We make every effort to formulate our procedures to include the greatest degree of integrity.
We greatly appreciate all our volunteers.  “Volunteering is at the very core of being human.”  Help us help you find a pleasant way to fill your spare time.  Send your volunteer message to cottonwoodlib@gmail.com.  You’ll be glad you did.  Thank you!
