Lady Pirates win 2 of 3 The Prairie Lady Pirates ended their regular season by winning 2 of 3 games. On Tuesday, April 30, they traveled to Orofino and beat the Orofino JV 12-7. On Friday, May 3, they celebrated senior night and split a doubleheader with Grangeville. They won the first game 12-9 and lost the second game 9-13. At Orofino JV Even though the game was
originally a home game, it was moved to Orofino due to field
conditions. Prairie still played as the visitors.Prairie got off to a great start as they scored 5 runs in the first inning. Clarice Rehder led off with a single. Ivy Walker was walked. Ember Martin with hit by a pitch to load the bases. Grace Uhlenkott reached on an error with Rehder scoring. Erica Schlader, Kaylie Lockett, Makenzie Mizer and Kadence Kalmbach each walked to force in another run. In the bottom of the first Lockett allowed a leadoff walk and hit a batter with 1 out but then struck out the next 2 hitters to get out of the inning. Uhlenkott had a 2-out double in the second inning but was stranded. Orofino got on the board in the bottom of the second on 4 walks. Prairie added a run in the third. Lockett singled to lead off the inning. Mizer was hit by a pitch and Kalmbach and Halee Rowland were both walked, forcing home Lockett to make it 6-1. Orofino got back in the game in the bottom of the third with 4 runs on 5 hits. In the fourth Prairie got a run after there were 2 outs. Lockett singled. And moved around the bases on a steal and passed balls to scored. That made it 7-5. Orofino tied in the in the bottom of the fourth with a pair of runs on a double, 3 walks and a single. Prairie scored 3 in the top of the fifth to retake the lead. Rowland reached on an error with 1 out. Rehder singled, Martin walked and Uhlenkott singled with the first 3 all scoring. That made it 10-7, Prairie. Orofino got the first two batters on in the bottom of the fifth on an error and hit batsman but Lockett got the next 3 out on a groundout, flyout and infield popup. Lockett drew a leadoff walk in the sixth but was stranded. In the bottom of the sixth Orofino had just 1 baserunner on a 1 out hit batsman. A strikeout and groundout to first ended the inning. Prairie added a couple insurance runs in the seventh. Walker had a 1-out double and scored on Martin’s single. Uhlenkott was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Schlader hit a grounder that forced Uhlenkott at second with Martin scoring to make it 12-7. In the bottom of the second a 1-out error was Orofino’s only baserunner as Lockett then got a strikeout and groundout to first to end the game. Prairie had 8 hits in the game. Rehder, Uhlenkott and Lockett each had 2 singles. Walker had a double and Martin had a single. Lockett gave up 7 runs on 5 hits with 6 strikeouts, 8 walks and 3 hit batsmen. doubleheader against Grangeville to make up for the game scheduled for
the game scheduled at Grangeville on April 4 that was cancelled due to
field conditions.In the opener, Grangeville scored first on a leadoff walk and 2 out single. Prairie answered with a pair of runs. Martin led off with a walk and stole second, moved to third on a passed ball and scored on wild pitch to tie the game. Walker was walked and stole second. She moved to third on a passed ball. Uhlenkott was hit by a pitch. After an out, Walker scored on Lockett’s groundout to first. Grangeville tied it in the second after there were 2 outs. A hit by pitch, passed ball, wild pitch and then a passed ball on strike 3 to the next batters led to a run to tie the game at 2-2. In the bottom of the second Bailey Key led off with a walk. Kenna Granger reached on an error. Martin singled to right to score Key. After there were two out Schlader reached on a fielder’s choice as Granger scored before the tag. Neither team scored in the third. In the fourth Grangeville took the lead with 3 runs on 2 walks, a passed ball on strike 3 and a single. Prairie had a pair of baserunners in the bottom of the fourth but couldn’t score. Uhlenkott was hit by a pitch with 2 outs and Schlader walked before the third out was made. Grangeville added 4 more runs in the fifth on 2 hits, a walk and a hit batsman. In the bottom of the fifth Prairie sent 10 hitters to the plate before the game ended on the agreed upon time limit. Kalmbach led off getting hit by a pitch. After an out, Key was hit by a pitch and Granger was walked. Martin was walked to score Kalmbach. Key scored on a wild pitch then Walker tripled to right center to score both Granger and Martin. Uhlenkott singled to right to score Walker and tie the game. She stole second and went to third on a wild pitch. After Schlader drew a walk, another wild pitch scored Uhlenkott to give Prairie the lead. Schlader scored when Lockett reached on an error. Kalmbach then reached on an error that scored Lockett to put Prairie up 12-9. At that point the time limit was reached. Prairie had 3 hits in the game. Walker had a triple and 2 RBI. Martin had a single and 2 RBI. Uhlenkott had a single and an RBI. Schlader had 2 RBI and Kalmbach had an RBI. Lockett gave up 9 runs on 5 hits with 4 walks, 2 hit batters and 11 strikeouts. She gave up a leadoff hit and then a walk. After an out she walked 4 straight batters. She was then lifted in favor or Rowland who gave up 3 straight hits before getting out of the inning. Grangeville scored 8 runs in the opening inning. Rehder led off the bottom of the inning with a single to right. After two fly ball outs, Uhlenkott and Schlader walked to load the bases. A wild pitch scored Rehder but then the inning ended on a strikeout. In the second inning Rowland gave up 3 walks and a single while getting just 1 out before Lockett went back to the circle. Lockett got 2 outs sandwiched around an error that scored a run. Grangeville wound up with 4 runs in the inning for a 1-12 lead. Prairie came back with 3 in the bottom of the inning. Mizer led off with a walk and Granger went in to courtesy run for her. After an out, Christopher singled to right. Rehder doubled to the wall in center to score both runners. Rehder went to third on the throw to the plate and then scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-12. Lockett set Grangeville down in order in the third. Prairie got back into the game with 4 runs in the bottom of the third. Schlader led off with a walk and Lockett reached on a dropped fly ball in left field. After an out, Rowland reached on an error with Schlader scoring. After a second out, Rehder walked and then Walker singled to right to score Kalmbach, who was courtesy running for Lockett and Rowland. Rehder moved to third on the play and then scored on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to 8-12. Lockett gave up a single in the fourth but stranded the runner at third. Prairie added a run in the bottom of the inning. Uhlenkott was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. She went to second on a wild pitch and stole third. She scored when the throw to third went into left field.Lockett walked and Rowland later singled bup the runners were left on as the inning ended. Grangeville added a run in the fifth on 2 singles. In the bottom of the inning Martin had a 2-out double down the left field line but the inning ended on a grounder to first. The game also hit the time limit at that points giving Grangeville a 9-13 win. Martin gave up 6 runs on 1 hits with 5 walks in 1/3 of an inning. Rowland gave up 6 runs on 5 hits with 2 walks and a strikeout in 1 inning. Lockett gave up 1 run on 3 hits with no walks and 4 strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings. Prairie had 7 hits led by Rehder who had a double and a single and 2 RBI. Martin also had a double and single. Walker had a single and 2 RBI. Rowland and Christopher each had a single. Prairie ends the regular season with a record of 3-12 on the season, 1-9 in league play. They were to play at Potlatch on Tuesday, May 7 in a loser-out District game.
