More school records are set
The Prairie track team broke or tied several school records at the District 2 Meet of Champions Thursday, May 2 at Lewiston.
Several track team members also competed at the Non-Meet of Champions in Lapwai on Tuesday, April 30.
Sierra Oliver broke her own pole vault record by clearing 8’0” at the Non-Meet of Champions and then shattered that record 2 days later at Lewiston by clearing 9’0”.
At the Meet of Champions there were several school records either broken or tied:
The boys 4x200 team of Dylan Uhlenkott, Noah Geis, Ben Secrest and Trenton Lorentz broke the 4x200 relay record they had just set at the last Prairie Meet. The new record is 1:31.79.
Matt Wemhoff, Secrest, Uhlenkott and Lorentz shattered the 4x400 record of 3:30.37 that had been set in 1995 with a time of 3:23.75. Shane Gehring, Patrick McWilliams, Clayton Lockett and Alan Uhlorn held the previous record.
Sydney Shears broke the 1600 meter record of 5:31.30 set by Chaye Uptmor at the Meet of Champions in 2017 by running 5:29.52.
Hailey Hanson broke the javelin record with a toss of 102’11”, breaking the mark of 100’4” Elizabeth Severns set on April 9.
Lorentz lowered his own 200 meter record from 22.68 to 22.42.
Briggs Rambo and Cole Duclos both cleared 10’0” in the pole vault tying Ken Wemhoff’s record from 1971. Duclos had previously tied the mark on April 6.
Non-Meet of Champions
At the Non-Meet of Champions Prairie had 3 event winners.
Evelyn Gehring won the 1600 in 6:42.66. She was also 4th in the 300 hurdles in 57.86 and 7th in the 100 in 15.93.
Oliver won the pole vault with a school record mark of 8’0”. She was also 2nd in the 100 hurdles in 18.60 and 2nd in the 300 hurdles in 51.26.
For the boys the 4x100 relay team of Levi Gehring, Hayden Johnson, Ashton Martin and Payton Stamper was 1st in 52.24.
Other girls results:
Kyra Robertson was 6th in the discus at 42’9” and 9th in the shot put at 19’2½”.
As a team the girls were 4th with 46 points.
Other boys results:
Gehring was 2nd in the 400 in 58.48, 10th in the 100 in 13.30 and 10th in the 200 in 27.88.
Martin was 3rd in the 200 in 26.84, 4th in the discus at 92’7½” and 6th in the 100 in 12.96.
Stamper was 2nd in the long jump at 17’6”.
Nate Forsmann was 2nd in the discus at 98’2½”, 5th in the shot put at 31’2” and 20th in the 100 in 14.50.
Caden Armbrust was 2nd in the 800 in 2:24.85 and 4th in the 1600 in 5:46.80.
Landon Riener was 4th in the 300 hurdles in 21.87, 5th in the 1600 in 6:31.97 and 6th in the 300 hurdles in 57.13.
Gabe Decaria was 4th in the long jump at 14’4”, 9th in the 400 on 1:13.40; 14th in the 200 in 31.98 and 21st in the 100 in 14.50.
Johnson was 5th in the 400 in 1:02.96, 12th in the 200 in 29.97 and 18th in the 100 in 13.98.
Peter Remacle was 6th in the discus at 83’3”, 8th in the shot put at 27’9½” and 25th in the 100 in 16.72.
As a team the boys were second with 90 points.
Meet of Champions
Despite the number of school records set or broken, the only ones to finish first at the Meet of Champions were Lorentz in the 200, Hanson in the javelin and the boys 4x200 and 4x400 relays.
Lorentz was also second in the 100 meter dash in a personal best 11.10, which was .04 away from Keith Nida’s school record set in 2003. Sierra Oliver clears 9 feet for a new school record in the girls pole vault at the Meet of Champions.
Shears was 3rd in the 1600 despite her school record. She was also 2nd in the 800 in 2:21.99, just .09 off her school record set earlier this year.
Oliver was 2nd, on misses, in the pole vault. She was also 7th in the 300 hurdles in 51.27, 10th in the 100 hurdles in 17.95 and 11th in the 100 in 13.82.
Other girls results:
Hanson was also 6th in the discus at 107’0” and 9th in the shot put at 31’2”.
Sage Elven was 2nd in the discus at 132’9”, 2nd in the javelin at 91’6½” and 3rd in the shot put at 34’8”.
Avery Riener was 2nd in the triple jump at 31’11” and 6th in the long jump at 14’11¼”.
Callie Remacle was 4th in the high jump at 4’8”, 10th in the long jump at 13’7” and 17th in the 100 hurdles in 19.66.
Elizabeth Severns was 5th in the discus at 111’8”, 5th in the javelin at 88’11” and 17th in the shot put at 26’8”.
Aubree Ges was 7th in the 400 in 1:03.53.
Nadia Cash was 7th in the long jump at 14’5¼”.
Harlee Brannan was 16th in the discus at 87’5”.
Aubree Rehder was 21st in the 200 in 29.55.
Meghan Fowler was 24th in the discus at 72’11”.
The 4x100 team of Cash, Avery Riener, Rehder and Alli Geis was 2nd in 53.98.
The 4x400 team of Alli Geis, Avery Riener, Aubree Geis and Shears was 2nd in 4:14.71.
The 4x200 team of Alli Geis, Cash, Rehder and Aubree Geis was 3rd in the 1:54.21.
The medley team of Alli Geis, Rehder, Cash and Aubree Geis was 3rd in 1:58.19.
As a team the girls placed 3rd behind Moscow and Logsos with 115 points.
Other boys results:
Bennie Elven was 2nd in the shot put at 43’9¼” and 10th in the discus at 121’3½”.
Lee Forsmann was 2nd in the discus at 136’2½” and 7th in the shot put at 40’7”.
Wemhoff was 3rd in the javelin at 131’8”.
Uhlenkott was 3rd in the 200 in 23.08.
Secrest was 3rd in the 400 in 52.76.
Zane Uptmor was 4th in the 110 hurdles in 18.23, 10th in the 300 hurdles in 48.52 and 13th in the discus 112’0”.
Rambo was 5th in the pole vault, 8th in the 300 hurdles in 46.79 and 10th in the 110 hurdles in 19.70.
Duclos was 7th in the pole vault (more misses than Rambo) and 20th in the 400 in 57.66.
Geis was 10th in the 400 in 55.32 and 14th in the 200 in 24.32.
Nate Forsmann was 12th in the discus at 117’5”.
Payton Stamper was 20th in the long jump at 17’10”.
The 4x100 relay team of Wemhoff, Geis, Secrest and Uhlenkott was 2nd in 44.81.
The medley relay team of Stamper, Wemhoff, Duclos and Logan Weber was 6th in 4:00.29.
As a team the boys placed 3rd behind Lewiston and Moscow with 96.5 points.

Prairie's time of 3:23.75 was almost 7 seconds faster than the previous school record and is the fastest time in the state this year, regardless of classification.
