 CV ends Prairie's season

The Prairie baseball season came to an end Tuesday, May 7, when they lost 5-7 to the Clearwater Valley Rams at Kooskia in a first round District game. Noah Behler singles in Prairie's 5-run third inning.
Noah Behler had a 1-out walk in the first inning but didn’t advance as the inning came to an end.
In the bottom of the first Behler got two quick outs then walked the next batter on 4 pitches. A grounder to short should’ve ended the inning but the throw pulled the first baseman off the bag and C.V. now had 2 runners on. A double to right scored both runners. Consecutive RBI singles added 2 more runs as C.V. took a 0-4 lead.
Prairie got a leadoff walk in the second inning but a forceout, caught stealing and a strikeout ended the inning.
Behler got the side out in order in the second inning.
In the top of the third Collin Ray led off with a walk. After 2 outs, Behler singled to left to score Ray. Carter Shears walked and Jake Quintal singled to right center to score Behler. Chris Schumacher walked to load the bases. Levi McElroy then doubled deep to left to score all 3 baserunners and give Prairie a 5-4 lead.
Behler gave up a 1 out single in the third but then got the next 2 hitters on a foul popup to catcher Cody Kaschmitter and a strikeout.
C.V. changed pitchers in the fourth inning from starter Landon Schlieper to Trebor Altman and Prairie went down in order.
In the bottom of the fourth Behler ran into trouble as a single, hit batsman and another single loaded the bases with nobody out. After an infield fly for an out, the next batter hit a comebacker to Behler. Behler might have been able to get the forceout at home but instead threw to first for an out as the tying run scored. The next batter singled to left to give C.V. a 5-6 lead before Behler got out of the inning with a strikeout.
In the fifth Behler reached on a passed ball third strike. After an out, Jake Quintal walked. However C.V. then got out of the inning with a ground ball to second that they turned into a double play.
Phil Schwartz went to the mound for the bottom of the fifth. He gave up a 1-out single. 2 errors sent the runner to third base and he scored when the next batter singled to left.
Prairie got a leadoff walk by McElroy to start the sixth but a lineout to second led to a double play and the inning ended on a fly ball out to center.
Schwartz gave up a 2-out walk in the sixth but then got out of the inning.
In the seventh Kade Quintal led off with a walk but then apparently tried to steal when he wasn’t supposed to and got thrown out at second. Kaschmitter followed with a walk. He was forced at second by Behler and then the game ended on a grounder to short.
Prairie had just 3 hits in the game, a 3-run double by McElroy and RBI singles by Behler and Jake Quintal.
Behler gave up 6 runs in 4 innings on 7 hits with 4 strikeouts, 1 walk and 1 hit batsman. Schwartz gave up 1 run in 2 innings on 2 hits with 2 strikeouts and a walk.
Prairie ends their season with a record of 6-13.
