Canola Tour set for May 23

Prairie Winter Canola Tour hosted by University of Idaho Extension and
Pacific Northwest Canola Association will be held on Thursday, May
23rd, 8:30 am at the Cottonwood Community Hall. All farmers and ranchers, agri-support personnel, and other interested persons are welcome to attend the tour to learn about prairie area canola production and a lunch hosted by PNWCA and Idaho Oilseed Commission. The Camas Prairie Winter Canola Tour is planned for Thursday, May 23, 2024. The tour will begin at the Cottonwood Community Center at 8:30 am. Participants will board a tour bus, visit two winter canola fields, and the tour will conclude with a hosted lunch. Tour topics include insect pests and beneficial insects, winter canola varieties, canola stand establishment, and planters and drills. Speakers will include University of Idaho personnel, local farmers, and representatives from PNWCA, Idaho Oilseed Commission, Helena Agri-Enterprises, Croplan, Photosyntech, and Rubisco Seeds. The tour will conclude after a hosted lunch. The program is free to attend thanks to our many sponsors. However, we ask that participants pre-register by May 17th by calling the Lewis County Extension Office at 208-937-2311.
