21 athletes qualify for State
The Prairie track team qualified 21 individual events and 6 relays for State at the Regional Meet held Friday and Saturday, May 10-11 at Lapwai. A total of 21 athletes will be traveling to State this week.
District champions were Trenton Lorentz in the 200 meter dash in 22.85; Bennie Elven in the discus with a school record and district meet record 164’6”; Sage Elven in the discus with a district meet record of 127’4” and Callie Remacle with a personal best mark of 4’10” in the high jump. Prairie also had three boys relay teams win at District. The boys 4x100 relay team of Matt Wemhoff, Noah Geis, Ben Secrest and Dylan Uhlenkott won in 44.81. The 4x200 team of Uhlenkott Geis, Secrest and Lorentz won in a new school record time of 1:31.28. The 4x400 team of Wemhoff, Secrest, Uhlenkott and Lorentz won in a district meet record time of 3:29.28. Bennie Elven set a school and Regional Meet record in winning the discus with a toss of 164’6”. He broke J.D. Riener’s record of 159’10½” set in 2006.
Cole Duclos broke the school record that he had shared with 2 others in the pole vault by placing third with a mark of 10’6”.
Bennie Elven also qualified for state by placing 4th in the shot put with a mark of 42’8½”.
Sage Elven also qualified for state by placing 2nd in the shot put at 35’8½”.
Sydney Shears qualified for state in two individual events, the 800 and 1600 she placed 2nd in each. Her 800 time was 2:21.68, which broke her own school record. Her 1600 time was 5:38.46.
Nadia Cash qualified for state by taking 2nd in the long jump with a personal best mark of 15’2¾”. She was also 7th in the 100 in 13.86.
Avery Riener qualified for state by taking 2nd in the triple jump at 32’10¼”. She was also 7th in the long jump at 14’2½”.
Hailey Hanson qualified for state in both the shot put and discus. She was third in the shot put at 33’5” and third in the discus at 107’7”.
Elizabeth Severns qualified for state by placing 2nd in the discus at 109’0”. She was also 8th in the shot put at 28’3½” and 17th in the 1600 in 7:29.07.
Aubree Geis qualified for state by placing 5th in the 400 in 1:01.58. She was also 12th in the 200 in 29.46.
The girls medley relay team of Alli Geis, Aubree Rehder, Kennedy Riener and Sydney Shears broke the school record with a time of 1:54.31. This broke the record of 1:54.5 set in 1977 by Cindy Schultz, Barbie Crea, Janice Uhlorn and Carrie Riener. They finished third at District but their time was good enough to get them to State.
The girls 4x400 team of Alli Geis, Aubree Geis, Avery Riener  and Kennedy Riener qualified for state by placing 2nd in 4:25.15.
The girls 4x200 team of Alli Geis, Cash, Kennedy Riener and Shears placed third in 1:49.67 but like the medley team, qualified for state with their time.
Wemhoff qualified for state in the 400 by placing 2nd in 52.37. He just missed in the 100 with a 6th place finish in 11.95.
Uhlenkott qualified for state by placing 2nd in the 200 in 23.08.
Briggs Rambo qualified for state in both the pole vault and 300 hurdles. He clear 10’0” in the pole vault to place 5th and finished 5th in the 300 hurdles in 44.85. He just missed in the 110 hurdles where he placed 6th in 18.30.
Zane Uptmor qualified for state in the 110 hurdles by placing 3rd in 17.67. He just missed in the discus where he was 6th at 118’4”. He was also 10th in the 300 hurdles in 47.30.
Lee Forsmann qualified for state by placing 5th in the shot put at 42’8½”, a personal best. He was favored to go to state in the discus but was unable to land a legal throw.
Lorentz was the favorite to win the 100 meter dash but false started in the final.
Other girls results:
Remacle was also 8th in the long jump at 13’10” and 8th in the 100 hurdles in 19.38.
Evelyn Gehring was 9th in the 300 hurdles in 57.44, 13th in the 1600 in 6:54.91 and 33rd in the 100 in 15.74
Ella McLeod was 10th in the 3200 in 15:18.52, 10th in the 800 in 3:04.93 and 15th in the 1600 in 7:13.61.
Rehder was 10th in the 200 in 29.34 and 10th in the long jump at 13’¾”, both personal bests.
Meghan Fowler was 11th in the discus at 76’7” and 24th in the shot put at 21’5”.
Alli Geis was 21st in the long jump at 10’11”.
Kyra Robertson was 26th in the shot put at 18’3” and 27th in the discus at 42’9½”.
The 4x100 relay team of Cash, Avery Riener, Rehder and Kennedy Riener just missed qualifying for state by finishing 3rd in 52.87.
As a team the girls placed 2nd behind Logos with 117 points.
Other boys results:
Secrest just missed qualifying for state by finishing 6th in the 400 in 54.60.
Logan Weber just missed qualifying for state in the high jump as he finished 6th at 5’6”. He was also 18th in the 100 in 12.39.
Nate Forsmann was 9th in the discus at 111’6” and 17th in the shot put at 32’3½”.
Landon Riener was 9th in the 110 hurdles in 21.04, 23rd in the 800 in 2:46.02 and 23rd in the 1600 in 6:31.73.
Caden Armbrust was 10th in the 800 in 2:19.18, 14th in the 3200 in 12:38.14 and 17th in the 1600 in 5:35.64.
Geis was 12th in the 400 in 56.10 and 14th in the 100 in 12.14.
Duclos was also 15th in the 400 in 56.64.
Levi Gehring was 16th in the 400 in 57.08, 30th in the 200 in 26.20 and 39th in the 100 in 13.14.
Ashton Martin was 14th in the discus at 107’5½”, 30th in the shot put at 29’3”, 34th in the 200 in 26.80 and 38th in the 100 in 13.14.
Peter Remacle was 17th in the discus at 97’7” and 33rd in the shot put at 27’4”.
Payton Stamper was 19th in the long jump at 16’7¾” and 31st in the 100 in 12.67.
Hayden Johnson was 21st in the 400 in 1:00.99, 31st in the long jump at 12’9¾”, 40th in the 200 in 27.52 and 47th in the 100 in 13.51.
Gabe Decaria was 26th in the long jump at 13’4½”, 31st in the 400 in 1:13.48, 50th in the 200 in 30.73 and 56th in the 100 in 14.14.
The medley team of Stamper, Gehring, Duclos and Weber placed 5th in 4:09.35.
As a team the boys placed 2nd behind Logos with 114 pts.

Sage Elven finished 2nd in the shot put and won the discus with a Regional Meet record to qualify for state in both events.

Briggs Rambo qualified for state in two events. He finished 5th in both the 300 hurdles and pole vault.

Sydney Shears broke her own school record as she finished 2nd in the 800 at District. She also finished 2nd in the 1600, right, to qualify for state.

Prairie broke a 47 year old school record in the event as the above two teamed with Alli Geis and Aubree Rehder for a time of 1:54.31, breaking the record of 1:54.5 set by Cindy Schultz, Carrie Riener, Barbie Crea and Janice Uhlorn  in 1977 when the distances were in yards rather than meters.

Zane Uptmor and Briggs Rambo in the 110 meter hurdles final. Uptmor finished 3rd to qualify for state while Rambo was 6th and just missed going to state.

Nadia Cash qualified for state in the long jump with a 2nd place finish.

Lee Forsmann had a disappointing discus event as he was called for a foul on all three throws. However he came back on Saturday and qualified for state in the shot put with a personal best throw.
