From the Police Chief
On Friday, May 24, Cottonwood Police received notice of an abandoned vehicle, which CPD had reason to believe may have been stolen. CPD later received calls alleging that firearms had been stolen from multiple vehicles in town.
Investigation throughout the day, including utilizing cameras from multiple citizens’ residences, resulted in CPD identifying 3 suspects, all juveniles, who may have been involved in multiple car prowlings throughout the city of Cottonwood between 11 p.m. Thursday, May 23 and 6:30 a.m. Friday, May 24. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Cottonwood PD currently has multiple sets of vehicle keys which we would like to identify. We also ask that our citizens please check any security cameras that you may have. We are specifically looking for 3 individuals between the hours of 11 p.m. Thursday and 6:30 a.m. Friday. Please contact City Hall at 208-962-3231 if you believe your vehicle was broken into during that period or if you have video or information from that period that may contain information relevant to CPD’s investigation.
CPD would like to thank our citizens for being involved and helping prevent future incidents. We specifically want to thank our Public Works employees who responded to assist with securing areas for us.
If you have any other information or questions, please contact City Hall at 208-962-3231.
