Paul and Sabrina Johnson have purchased The Hangout business as of April 2 this year.
Sabrina served as the general manager starting in November 2023 for Michael and Candice VanLoon who were the previous owners.
They look to keep the items that were already on the menu while adding some additional items. They try some off-menu items as specials on occasion to see how they go.
In the future they would like to offer take-and-bake pizzas. The VanLoons quit offering pizzas when their pizza oven quit working. With the coolers added after that happened they don’t really have space to add in a new pizza oven.
Sabrina has certification from a culinary school and is also an Air Force veteran. She joined the local VFW Post when they moved here 10 years ago.
Paul started work at Pacific Cabinets in Ferdinand when they first moved here and was there until they decided to purchase The Hangout. Before that he had a background in sales.
Once the interest rates come down they would like to purchase the building as well.
The Johnsons added the VanLoons were good to work with and the transition went well.
