Blood drive set for Tuesday There
is a Cottonwood Community Blood drive at the Cottonwood Community Hall
on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, from 12:00 to 6:00 pm. The drive is ran by
Vitalant, and the blood that is collected stays in the Pacific
Northwest. If you have thought about donating and are unsure, give it a
try. You might find it to be rewarding and do it often to help save
lives. A lot of undecided people say, “Well, I don’t have time” but it
typically only takes about 30-45 minutes. The actual time you “give”
blood takes about five minutes. You get a blood pressure, pulse,
temperature and a hemoglobin check, complete a brief questionnaire, and
thenmove on to the donating chair. A very minor needle stick and you’re
filling the bag with a pint of very much-needed blood. One pint of blood can save 3 lives so each time you donate you help save someone’s life somewhere. People say. “I don’t like needles.” Well...I am pretty sure that no one does? If it were your spouse, parent, child, grandchild, etc. who needed blood right now, I’d bet most people would make the time and not worry about a little needle stick to save that life. Grab a friend and go try it. It is very rewarding when you get that email or text saying that your blood was used to help save a life. We have 4-5 blood drives a year, and there always seems to be the same faces every time (and we do love those faces)but due to an aging population the faces are becoming fewer and fewer. Come in and become a regular or even a just few times a year…anything would be appreciated. Brenda at St. Mary’s Health can be reached at 208-962-2112 or you can go online at vitalant.org to schedule an appointment. Help save a life. Donate. It could be someone’s life that you know or love that you save. |
