Lady Pirates win 2 of 3 league matches

SCHEDULE FOR 2024
The Prairie Lady Pirates won 2 of 3 league volleyball matches this past week. On Tuesday, Sept. 17 they beat Kamiah 25-23, 15-25, 25-19 and 25-19 at Cottonwood. On Thursday, Sept. 19, they beat Kendrick 25-15, 25-19, 20-25 and 25-18, also at Cottonwood. Finally on Monday, Sept. 23, they traveled to Potlatch and lost 16-25, 25-23, 12-25 and 22-25. Vs. Kamiah saw the Kubs take a 0-2 lead. Lexi Schumacher scored a sideout
kill and Prairie took their first lead with 2 aces by Tamden Pecarovich
and a kill by Kylie Schumacher.The teams traded points until another sideout kill by Lexi sent her to the service line. She had 2 aces while Kylie had 3 kills, including a block, for a 14-6 lead. Kamiah came back to pull within 3. The margin stayed at 3-5 points until Prairie led 22-17 after 2 aces by Mia Anderson. Kamiah then scored 4 straight to pull within 1 at 22-21. A kill by Lexi Schumacher made it 23-21 but Kamiah answered. A kill by Kylie Schumacher made it 24-22. After a kill by Kamiah, Prairie ended the opening set with a kill by Hailey Hanson. The second set was even until Kamiah boke it open with a 3-11 run that turned a 4-4 tie into a 7-15 lead. Prairie never really got back into that set as they got no closer than 5 before losing by 10. In the third set Kylie Schumacher opened the scoring with a sideout kill. Pecarovich then served Prairie to an 8-0 lead. She had 3 aces then Kylie Schumacher and Hanson each had 2 kills. Kamiah scored twice then Hanson scored another kill and Kaylie Lockett served 2 aces for an 11-2 lead. Kamiah was able to rally back and got the lead down to just 1 at 16-15 before Lexi Schumacher scored a sideout kill. After 5 more sideouts, Anderson went to the service line with a 20-18 lead. Lexi Schumacher scored 3 straight kills to get to 23-18. After a Kamiah sideout, Lexi scored 2 more kills to give Prairie a 25-19 win and a 2 sets to 1 lead. Kamiah scored first in the fourth set then Hanson scored a kill and Lexi Schumacher added 2 more for a 3-1 lead. After a sideout, Lexi Schumacher scored 3 more kills and Hanson added an ace for a 7-2 lead. Kamiah was able to again rally back and tied the set at 14-14. Prairie was able to keep them from taking a lead but the Kub were able to tie it again at 16 and at 17. Kylie Schumacher scored a sideout kill to make it 18-17 and Pecarovich then serve 4 straight points. She had an ace while Kylie Schumacher scored 3 kills for a 22-17 lead. Kamiah scored 2 points before Kylie Schumacher scored a sideout kill. With Lockett serving, Hanson scored a pair of kills to finish off the match. Lexi Schumacher had 31 kill and 2 aces in the match. Kylie Schumacher had 18 kills including a block. Hanson had 13 kills and 3 aces. Ellie Nuxoll had 4 kills. Pecarovich had 1 kill, 30 assists and 7 aces. Sydney Shears had 1 kill and 2 assists. Anderson had 23 assists and 2 aces. Beka Schumacher had an assist and Lockett had 4 aces. Prairie won the JV match 18-25, 25-22 and 15-10. Faith Cash got Prairie started against Kamiah by serving the Pirates to a 6-0 lead. She had 2 aces while Avery Kehler had 4 kills including a block. Kamiah came back though and finally took their first lead at 16-17 and went on to win by 7. Kamiah scored first in the second game but a kill each by Macie Uhlenkott, Nadia Cash and Beka Schumacher gave Prairie a 3-1 lead. Kamiah tied it but a kill by Kennedy Riener and 2 kills by Schumacher made it 6-3. Kamiah came right back to retake the lead and led 7-9 when they missed a serve. An ace by Faith Cash and a block by Kehler made it 10-9. After Kamiah tied it, Kehler scored another kill to send Halee Rowland to the service line. Rowland served Prairie to a 17-10 lead. She had 2 aces while Kehler had a kill and a block and Nadia Cash had a pair of kills. Kamiah came back to pull within 1 at 21-20. At that point Rowland scored a sideout kill. 4 more sideouts left the score at 24-22 with Rowland again at the service line. She served an ace to give Prairie the win and even the match. In the third set Erica Schumacher served 2 aces and Schumacher added a kill for a 3-0 lead. Scoring went back and forth until Schumacher scored a sideout kill to make it 6-4. Schumacher then went to the service line and Prairie took a 10-4 lead on 2 aces plus 2 kills by Kehler. Kamiah was able to get within 3 at 11-8 and 12-9 but got no closer. A kill by Schlader and a block by Schumacher made it 14-9. After a sideout, Schumacher scored the match winning kill. The Pirates won a C match against Clarkston 25-17, 25-9. Vs. Kendrick In the match against new league member Kendrick, Lexi Schumacher racked up 15 kills and 32 digs while posting a near-perfect 15-for-16 mark from the serving line. Hanson added14 kills, including 7blocks. “It was a good night,” Prairie coach Julie Schumacher said. “Everyone played very well and pitched in.” Prairie also beat Kendrick in the JV match and the C team defeated Orofino.
