October 3, 3:30 p.m. Experiencing the Seven Devil’s Wilderness Presented by Phil Wimer This program will take you on a horseback trip through the magnificent Seven Devils Wilderness. With stunning photography by Lynn Welborn, you’ll see breathtaking shots of the peaks and drainages. The adventure includes fishing, camp life and trail riding along the West Bank of Hell’s Canyon. Phil Wimer has been visiting the Seven Devils Wilderness for 70 years, spending the last 40 years exploring the area on horseback. He is a rancher and a retired investment counselor, and his hobby is breaking horses. The 7 Devils Wilderness Cottonwood’s Big Beagle: Sweet Willy, a Noble and Absurd Undertaking Presented by Frances Conklin Ever wonder how or why a place in Cottonwood named Dog Bark Park came to be? In a talk and slide show, Dog Bark Park co-founder Frances Conklin will reveal the big dog’s origins, its design and construction, and share experiences she and her husband, Dennis Sullivan, have had in their artistic, and not-so-artistic, endeavors at Dog Bark Park. Frances Conklin was raised in New Jersey farm country, then attended the University of Montana living in Missoula for twenty-four years before moving across the Bitterroot Mountains to Idaho after meeting Dennis. Always a student of the natural world and words, Frances enjoys the quiet of the outdoors, reading, and creative writing. Sweet Willy at Dog Bark Park The Center for Benedictine Life at the Monastery of St. Gertrude is a community which includes the Benedictine Sisters, the Oblate Community of St. Gertrude, the Benedictine Cohousing Community, along with the monastery’s employees, friends and benefactors. While offering healing hospitality, grateful simplicity and creative peacemaking to the world, this community shares the Benedictine charism and spirituality through in-person and online programs available at Spirit Center, along with the Historical Museum at St. Gertrude on the monastery campus, and the Inn at St. Gertrude, a bed and breakfast.
