To the Library and Beyond
Books you will find on the “New Arrivals” shelves include:  Hike Lewis and Clark’s Idaho, by Mary Aegerter and Steve F. Russell “oozes with history”;  Roots in the Prairie Dust by Maxine Wambach Melton, “[. . .] childhood memories of the depression years [. . .]”; and Maverick Guns by Jack Ballas, “an epic western novel of fury, honor, and vengeance.”
Joan has reviewed the 1990 book, Adventures In Idaho’s Sawtooth Country.  Author Lynne Stone identifies 63 trips for hikers and mountain bikers in Idaho’s Sawtooth Mountains.  Ms. Stone describes the routes, complete with maps and highlights, lengths, and difficulty of each route.  There are also several black and white photos displaying the spectacular scenery in this mountain range.
October is Family History Month, National Book Month, and Information-Literacy Awareness Month.  On Sunday 13, we find ourselves in the middle of Teen Read Week (Oct. 10 – 16); Monday 14 is Columbus Day as well as Indigenous Peoples’ Day; Wednesday 16 is Dictionary Day.  Apologies for previous attempts at banter.
In 2022 Prairie Community Library served 1,945 visitors, 543 of whom were children.  The volunteers who manage and operate Prairie Community Library are committed to partners and projects that complement our mission of developing the Library as a sustainable service to the residents of the surrounding area by adapting to community needs as they arise.  "Service is what life is all about," and we aspire to understanding and goodwill.
Send your volunteer message to cottonwoodlib@gmail.com. “Volunteering provides a sense of purpose and enhances emotional health.”  Please recommend improvements to the Library’s direction, priorities and customer service.  Thank you all!
