Lady Pirates win 1 of 2
The Prairie Lady Pirates split a pair of league road matches this past week. On Tuesday, Oct. 8, they traveled to Kamiah and were swept 12-25, 20-25 and 22-25. On Monday, Oct. 14, they traveled to Logos and won by a sweep, 25-17, 25-13, 25-20.
At Kamiah

In the first set, Prairie fell behind 0-2 and were never able to take a lead.
They were down 2-6 when they rallied tie it. Lexi Schumacher scored a side out kill. Ellie Nuxoll won a joust at the net, Mia Anderson served and ace and Lexi Schumacher scored on a tip to tie it.
Kamiah then scored a sideout and Emma Krogh served 12 straight points to all but put the set away for the Kubs. Prairie struggled against her jump serve as she had 8 aces in the run.
Prairie started well in the second set as Hailey Hanson scored a block to open the set and Kylie Schumacher followed with a kill.
An ace each by Hanson and Anderson had Prairie up 7-4. Kamiah then score 8 of the next 9 points to take an 8-12 lead.
Prairie was down 12-18 when Lexi Schumacher scored a sideout kill on a tip. Hanson served 2 aces and Nuxoll and Lexi Schumacher each scored a block to cut the deficit to just 1 at 17-18.
Kamiah then answered with 3 straight points to take a 4-point lead. A tip by Lexi Schumacher and a block by Nuxoll got Prairie within 2 at 20-22 but a missed serve gave the Kubs the serve and they served out the set.
Prairie fell behind 0-5 and 2-7 in the third set before rallying back to take their first lead at 12-11. That came after a 4-point serving run by Lexi Schumacher that included 2 aces and 2 kills by Nadia Cash.
Kamiah took back the lead until Hanson scored a sideout kill which was followed by an ace by Tamden Pecarovich and then a block and a kill by Hanson that made it 18-15.
Kamiah scored 3 straight to tie it before Lexi Schumacher scored a kill for a 19-18 lead. Prairie took their final lead of the match at 20-19 when Kamiah missed a served. Kamiah then scored 4 straight before missing a serve. Anderson served an ace to make it 22-23 but that was Prairie’s final point.
Lexi Schumacher had 14 kills in the match and 2 aces. Hanson had 6 kills, including 2 blocks, with an assist and 3 aces. Nuxoll had 4 kills including a block. Pecarovich had 2 kills, 11 assists and 3 aces. Kylie Schumacher and Cash each had 2 kills. Anderson had 1 kill, 9 assists and 3 aces. Sydney Shears had 1 kill and 3 assists. Beka Schumacher and Lacey Schwartz each had 1 assist.
Kamiah won the JV match 22-25, 18-25, 15-13.
The first set was a back and forth battle with 6 lead changes and 12 ties.
Halee Rowland had an ace and Maggie Nuxoll had a kill for a 4-3 lead. Nuxoll had a another kill for a 6-5 lead. Nuxoll then served an ace for 9-8 lead.

Prairie took their biggest lead after a missed Kamiah serve when Erica Schlader served an ace and Beka Schumacher had 2 kills for a 19-15 lead.
Kamiah then scored 5 straight to retake the lead. A kill by Schumacher tied it but then Kamiah took the lead for good.
Prairie never led in the second set at the fell behind 0-4. They rallied to a tie at 5-5 on a kill by Kehler and again at 8-8 after a pair of aces by Kehler.
Their final tie came at 10-10 after a kill by Schumacher and an ace by Schlader.
Kamiah then took the lead for good. They led by 7 at 13-20 when Rowland served 2 aces and Nuxoll scored a kill to cut the deficit to 3 but Kamiah then took back the serve and pulled away to a 7-point win.
Kamiah took the early lead in the third set and led 5-10 when Rowland scored a sideout kill. Uhlenkott then served 3 aces and Rowland added a kill for a 10-10 tie.
Kamiah took back the lead and led until a rotation foul scored a sideout at 12-13. Rowland then served 3 aces to salvage the third set for Prairie.
At Logos
The match at Logos was a big bounceback win for the Pirates who had struggled at the Genesee Tournament and at Kamiah.
Logos scored the first point of the night then Lexi Schumacher scored a sideout kill and Pecarovich served them to a 6-1 lead. She had 2 aces while Oliver and Lexi Schumacher each had a kill and Hanson scored on a block.

Lockett served 2 aces and Lexi Schumacher added a pair of kills as Prairie opened up a 21-15 lead.
After 4 straight sideouts, Anderson served an ace to get to set point and then Nuxoll bumped it back over her head for what turned out to be the set-winning point.
In the second set Kylie Schumacher and Hanson each scored a kill for a 2-0 lead. After a missed Logos serve made it 4-2, Hanson served an ace and Lexi Schumacher and Shears each added a kill for a 7-2 lead.
Logos cut the lead to 9-8 then Lexi Schumacher scored a sideout kill and went back to serve. She had an ace and Nuxoll and Kylie Schumacher each added a kill to make it 13-8.
A kill and then a block by Kylie Schumacher made it 15-9. An ace by Pecarovich made it 17-10.
After 4 sideouts with Hanson scored on a block and a kill for Prairie’s 2 points, Hanson served 4 aces and Lexi Schumacher added a spike to the far corner to get to set point at 24-12. A net violation ended Hanson’s serving run bu Shears came right back with the set winning kill.
The third set was a battle back and forth early on with neither team taking much of an advantage.
After a sideout kill by Lexi Schumacher made it 14-12, Hanson served Prairie to a 20-12 lead. She had 2 aces while Shears, Lexi Schumacher and Nuxoll each had a kill.
Logos then scored a sideout and Prairie had their first real bad stretch of the match as Logos scored 8 straight points to tie the set at 20-20.
Sheas scored a kill to break the run and Anderson was then able to serve out the match. Nuxoll scored 2 kills and a block to get to set point and Anderson served an ace to end it.
Lexi Schumacher had 15 kills, including a block, plus 2 assists and 1 ace. Nuxoll had 11 kills, including 3 blocks and an ace. Kylie Schumacher had 8 kills, including a block, and 3 assists. Hanson had 7 kills, including 3 blocks, and 8 aces. She was the served for 15 points for the Pirates. Shears had 5 kills. Pecarovich had 2 kills, 18 assists and 4 aces. Oliver had 1 kill. Anderson had 13 assists and 2 aces. Lockett had 1 assist and 3 aces.
Prairie is now 8-5 in league play and 12-11 overall.
Prairie won the JV match 26-24, 25-14.
In the opening set Rowland served Prairie from 2-1 to 10-1 as she had 6 aces while Kehler and Nadia Cash each added a kill.
Prairie led 15-6 after an ace by Nadia Cash and a kill by Rowland. Logos then worked their way back into the set. A big serving run cut the lead to 16-15. They eventually tied it 19 and took the lead at 22-24 after an ace. The next serve went into the net and Nadia Cash served out the set. Beka Schumacher scored on a block and then a kill and Cash served an ace to end it.
Faith Cash served 2 aces and scored a kill on a free ball to give Prairie a 3-0 start to the second set.
Logos came back to take the lead at 4-5 and eventually led 6-10. Another free ball by Faith Cash and 2 aces by Schlader cut the deficit to 9-10. Prairie finally took back the lead on 3 aces by Beka Schumacher that made it 15-13.
After a pair of sideouts, Faith Cash took over serving at 16-14 and served out the match. She had 5 aces while Kehler, Rowland and Faith Cash each had a kill to get to 24-14. Schlader then scored the match winning kill.
The C team made it a perfect 7-0 in sets on the night as they won their match 25-20, 25-19.
