To the Library and Beyond Find these books on the “New Arrivals” shelves: Loggers by Rick Steber, “Tales of the Wild West, (volume 7)”; The Shanghaiers by F. M. Parker, “San Francisco when law was the six-gun”; Thomas Jefferson, the Art of Power by “Pulitzer Prize-winner Jon Meacham.” Joan shares her review of Outlaw Tales Of Idaho. Published by Randy Stapilus in 2008, this offering brings us stories from different places in Idaho, between 1862 and 1943. Mr. Stapilus details the exploits of several notorious – as well as some not-so-well-known – residents of Idaho at various times while Idaho was still a territory, and since attaining statehood in 1890. October is National Cookbook Month; we also celebrate American Archives and National Arts & Humanities. At the Library, we may be thinking about Public Relations with understanding and goodwill. On 24 October we note the beginning of Global Media and Information Literacy Week, ending with Halloween on Thursday. To celebrate Halloween we want to thank all our donors, volunteers and other patrons for your many thoughtful donations. We assure you that your donations are greatly appreciated and dedicated to serving the community. “Volunteering is at the very core of being human.” In 2019 PCL served 2,349 patrons. During the nine months the Library was open in 2023, 533 children and adults attended Story Hour. The volunteers who manage and operate Prairie Community Library are committed to aligning all products and services with the purpose of serving the local communities. Send your volunteer message to cottonwoodlib@gmail.com. “Volunteering can provide job prospects and helps us meet and make new friends.” Please recommend improvements to the Library’s direction, priorities and customer service. Thank you all! | COTTONWOOD
