Lady Pirates wins 2 of 3
Prairie won 2 of 3 matches this past week. They opened with a Senior Night sweep of Clearwater Valley 25-20, 25-15 and 25-13 on Tuesday, Oct. 15. On Saturday, Oct. 19, they opened District play with a win over Lapwai, 25-20, 25-15, 23-25 and 25-15. Finally on Monday, Oct. 21, they faced Troy and lost  22-25, 18-25 and 16-25. They were to play C.V. on Tuesday, Oct. 22 in a loser out match.
Senior Night vs. CV
Prairie celebrated seniors Tamden Pecarovich, Aubree Rehder, Lexi Schumacher, Kaylie Lockett, Ellie Nuxoll and Kadence Kalmbach prior to the start of their final regular season match against C.V. Aubree Rehder jump serving on Senior Night against C.V.
Rehder got a rare start and acquitted herself well in place of usual starter Kylie Schumacher.
Prairie did not start the match well as they fell behind 2-10 before Hailey Hanson scored a sideout kill. Mia Anderson then served 3 aces and Hanson added a block and a kill to cut the deficit to 8-10.
Prairie tied it at 12 on a kill by Rehder and a net violation on C.V. They fell behind again but finally took their first lead after a sideout kill by Syndey Shears made it 14-16. Rehder then served and after a tip by Lexi Schumacher, Rehder served 2 aces for a 17-16 lead. Nuxoll added a kil to make it 18-16.
After a C.V. sideout, Lexi Schumacher scored on another tip and then Nuxoll got a rare chance to serve. Lexi scored a smashing spike then Nuxoll added an ace to make it 21-17.
C.V. cut the lead to 21-19 then Pecarovich scored on a tip and Anderson served an ace to make it 23-19. After a C.V. sideout, Lexi Schumacher scored a kill and then served an ace to give Prairie the first set.
C.V. scored the first point of the second set then Pecarovich had a big serving run. She had just 1 ace in a 7-point run but Nuxoll scored 2 kills plus a block and Lexi Schumacher and Rehder each added a kill while a net violation accounted for the other point as Prairie took an 8-1 lead.
C.V. scored a pair of points then Rehder scored a sideout kill and served an ace. Lexi Schumacher added a kill for an 11-3 lead.
C.V. cut the lead to 12-6 but a sideout kill by Lexi Schumacher, another kill by Lexi, 2 kills plus a block by Hanson, an ace by Anderson and a kill by Lexi after a C.V. timeout made it 19-6.
C.V. rallied back with 7 straight points before Lexi scored a sideout kill. After a C.V. sideout, Rehder scored a kill to sent Lockett to the served line. 3 aces later and it was set point at 24-14. C.V. fought off one set point but then Rehder scored the set-winning kill.
In the third set Prairie trailed early except for a brief lead at 3-2 after an ace by Rehder and a kill by Lexi Schumacher.
Prairie took the lead for good after Shears scored a sideout kill to tie it at 5 and Anderson served an ace for the lead. Lexi Schumacher scored 2 kills and Sierra Oliver scored from the back row to make it 9-6.
After a missed serve, Lexi scored a sideout kill the served 3 aces with her jump serve. Rehder then scored a kill to make it 14-6.
C.V. scored a sideout but Rehder answered with a kill. Lockett then served 4 aces in a row to make it 19-7.
C.V. was able to get back within 10 at 19-9 and again at 23-13 before Hanson scored consecutive kills to end the match.
Near the end of the third set, coach Julie Schumacher was able to sub out each senior so they could get applause from the crowd and a hug from the coach.
Lexi Schumacher had 16 kills and 5 aces. Hanson had 9 kills, including 3 blocks. Rehder had 8 kills and 4 aces. Nuxoll had 5 kills, including a block, and an ace. Pecarovich had 3 kills, 17 assists and 1 ace. Shears had 3 kills and 2 assists. Anderson had 14 assists and 6 aces. Beka Schumacher had 1 kill. Lockett had 2 assists and 7 aces. Oliver, Avery Riener, Erica Schlader and Oliver each had 1 assist. Kylie Schumacher had 1 ace.
Prairie also won the JV match 25-16, 25-17, 15-6.
Prairie got off to a great start in the first set as Fairh Cash served them to an 8-0 lead. She had 5 aces while Halee Rowland added 2 kills and Avery Kehler added another.
C.V. came right back though with 5 straight. Prairie was able to hold them off though as they would build the lead to 5 at 13-8 then see the Rams cut it to 1 at 15-14. At that point Rowland scored a kill and Faith Cash served 2 aces to make it 18-14.
C.V. got within 19-16 when Nadia Cash scored a kill and Kehler went to the service line. Kehler served out the set with 3 straight aces followed by a kill each from Nadia Cash and Beka Schumacher.
In the second set Prairie didn’t take their first lead until Rowland served an ace to make it 3-2. Erica Schlader added a kill to make it 4-2.
C.V. scored a sideout but Nadia Cash answered. Schumacher then scored a kill and Kehler served an ace to make it 7-3.
After a pair of sideouts, Erica Schlader served an ace and Schumacher scored a block and a kill to make it 11-4.
After an ace by Schumacher and a kill by Kahler Prairie had a 16-7 lead. C.V. then scored 4 straight to pull within 5 before Rowland scored a kill and Faith Cash served 2 aces for a 19-11 lead.
Prairie was then able to pretty much hold that lead through the end of the set. At 23-17, Schlader scored a kill and then Nadia Cash served an ace to end the set and clinch the match win.
In the third set Schlader scored a kill to open the set then Zoey Behler served 4 straight points for a 5-0 lead. Rowland scored 2 kills and Behler picked up a pair of kills on soft hits for a 9-1 lead. The closest C.V. got the rest of the set was 6 at 12-6. At that point they missed a serve
Macie Uhlenkott wound up serving an ace to end the set.
The C team made it a perfect 9-0 for the night as they won 25-10, 25-15 and 15-9.
Vs. Lapwai at District

Lapwai jumped out to a 1-3 lead but Shears scored a sideout kill and then Lexi Schumacher scored 3 straight kills for a 5-3 lead.
Lapwai came back to tie at 5 and again at 6 and 7 but could never take the lead. Prairie took the lead for good on a sideout kill by Riener to make it 8-7. Lexi Schumacher then served an ace and Kylie Schumacher scored a kil to make it 10-7.
After a Lapwai sideout, Kylie Schumacher scored a sideout to send Oliver to the service line. Kylie had a kill, Hanson had a block and Oliver an ace for a 14-8 lead. After another Lapwai sideout, Kylie Schumacher scored a kill and Pecarovich served 2 aces for a 17-9 lead.
Lapwai was able to rally back within 4 at 19-15 and again at 23-19. Kylie Schumacher scored on a tip to get to set point. After a Lapwai sideout, Kylie scored the set winner off of a block attempt.
In the second set Lapwai took a 3-5 lead and Prairie was able to tie it at 5, 6 and 7. They fell behind 7-10 before taking the lead on a back row kill by Oliver, 2 aces by Pecarovich and a kill by Kylie Schumacher.
Lapwai took back the lead although Prairie tied it at 12. Prairie tied it again at 13 on a kill by Shears then Hanson served them into the lead for good. Hanson served Prairie to an 18-13 lead as Prairie dominated at the net. Lexi Schumacher had 3 kills and Beka Schumacher and Shears each added a kill.
Lapwai scored a sdieout on a block but Shears scored a kill to send Anderson to the service line. After an emphatic kill by Lexi Schumacher, Anderson served an ace to make it 21-14.
Lapwai got within 5 at 22-17 and again at 23-18 before Kylie Schumacher sent the ball to the far corner for a sideout. Hanson then scored on a block to give Prairie a 2 sets to none lead.
Prairie fell behind 0-4 in the third set but then scored 5 straight. Pecarovich scored a sideout tip. Lockett then had 2 aces and Shears added 2 kills to make it 5-4.
After a trade of sideouts, Hanson served Prairie to a 10-5 lead. Lexi Schumacher had 3 kills and Shears added a kill.
Prairie held the lead until at 15-8, Lapwai scored a sideout. They then served for 7 straight points to tie it at 15-15.
Kylie Schumacher scored a sideout, Shears scored a kill and Pecarovich served an ace to make it 18-15.
After an ace by Lockett and a block by Lexi Schumacher, Prairie led 21-17. Lapwai then rallied back to tie it at 21-21.
Lexi Schumacher scored on a tip to make it 22-21 but that turned out to be Prairie’s last lead of the set. Lapwai scored 3 straight to get to set point at 22-24. Lexi Schumacher scored on a tip but Lapwai then ended the set with a kill.
In the fourth set Prairie jumped out to a 5-0 lead. Pecarovich scored a sideout on a free ball and then served 2 aces while Kylie Schumacher scored a block and Hanson added a kill.
After a trade of sideouts, Shears scored clipped the back line with a spike and Lockett added 2 aces for a 9-1 lead.
Lapwai was able to get back within 5 and traded points until bricking a serve to make it 16-10. Lockett then served an ace and Shears scored twice on tips to make it 19-10.
Lapwai cut the lead to 6 at 20-14 before Prairie scored a sideout. Anderson served 2 aces to make it 23-14. After a Lapwai sideout, Anderson scored a sideout on a free ball. Kylie Schumacher then scored the match winning kill.
Lexi Schumacher scored 21 kills, including 2 blocks and 1 ace. Kylie Schumacher scored 17 kills, including a block, with 2 assists. Shears had her biggest kill total of the season with 16. Beka Schumacher had 5 kills. Pecarovich had 2 kills, 32 assists and 9 aces. Anderson had 2 kills, 21 assists and 4 aces. Hanson had 3 kills, including 2 blocks and 1 assist. Riener had 2 kills and 3 assists. Oliver had 1 kill, 2 assists and 1 ace. Lockett had 1 assist and 6 aces. Lacey Schwartz had 1 assist.
Vs. Troy at District
Prairie played Troy the toughest in the opening set, just like in their home match on Oct. 3.
Troy scored the first 2 points but Prairie came back to take a 6-4 lead. Troy tied it at 6 but a block by Beka Schumacher gave Prairie a 7-6 lead. Troy then scored 3 straight to retake the lead.
Prairie tied it at 9 and again at 10, 12 and 14 but couldn’t retake the lead. They tied it again at 19 after 2 aces by Lexi Schumacher and the final tie came at 22 after an ace by Pecarovich. Troy then scored the final 3 points of the set.
In the second set Prairie took a 3-0 lead as Kylie Schumacher picked up a kill and Pecarovich served an ace. Prairie then scored 5 straight to take their first lead.
Prairie tied it at 5 on a kill each by Shears and Lexi Schumacher.
Prairie was unable to retake the lead although they tied it at 6 and again at 7. Troy then took the lead for good and built a 7-point lead at 9-16. The two teams played even the rest of the set as Troy wound up winning by 7.
In the third set Prairie fell behind 0-7 at the start and were able to fight their way back to within 3 at 14-17 after a kill by Lexi Schumacher and an ace by Hanson.
Troy then scored the side out along with the next 5 points for a 14-23 lead. A kill by Lexi Schumacher broke the run and Riener added a kill to make it 16-23. A missed serve ended any chance at a rally and Prairie was called for a double hit for the match ending point.
We don’t have our usual match stats as St. John Bosco was playing Genesee the same time as Prairie was playing Troy and we were trying to keep track of both matches.
Prairie is now 14-12 on the season.
