Cross Country teams qualify for State The Prairie Cross Country boys and girls teams both qualified for the State Meet at the District meet held at Lewiston on Thursday, Oct. 24. In the girls race Evelyn Gehring, Ella McLeod and Reagan Brannan each qualified as individuals. Gehring was 5th in 22:41. McLeod was 9th in 23:46 and Brannan was 10th in 24:20. Lillianne Lustig finished 15 in 25:47 and Callie Remacle finished 20th in 27:23 to help Prairie to a 2nd place team finish. The top 5 finishers on a team contribute to the team score. Bella Musick rounded out the team by finishing 26th in 35:20. The girls team score of 37 was second to Logos. With 3 schools fielding enough runners to have a team, the top 2 get to go to state. In the boys race Phineas Fitch and Chase VonBargen each qualified as individuals. Fitch was 7th in 17:53 and VonBargen was 15th in 18:23. Matthew Jones was 20th in 19:15. Kento Morita was 32nd in 20:45. Landon Riener was 35th in 22:14. They helped Prairie to a 3rd place finish among 5 teams with 72 points, well ahead of 4th place Troy who had 91. That qualified the team for State. Kade Hanson was 39th in 22:40 and Gabe Decaria was 49th in 24:38. Onyx Lish and Joe Shaw were unable to run as teams are limited to 7 runners at District. They could serve as alternates at state if one of the others is unable to compete. State will be at Eagle Island State Park on Saturday, Nov. 2. The girls will race at 1:30 MDT and the boys at 2:30 MDT.  The Prairie girls cross country team after qualifying for State.
