SCHEDULE FOR 2024
The Prairie Lady Pirates won 1 of their 3 matches at State with the two losses coming in heartbreaking fashion at Jerome High School Thursday and Friday, Oct. 31 and Nov. 1. They lost to Hagerman 18-25, 21-25, 25-17, 26-24, 15-17 on Thursday. On Friday they defeated Liberty Charter of Nampa 25-12, 25-18, 25-16. Later on they were eliminated by Oakley 23-25, 25-20, 25-19, 17-25, 15-17. Oakley went on to beat Hagerman and Troy before losing to Butte County to finish second at State. Vs. Hagerman It was a rough start to the tournament as the 6th
seeded Pirates fell behind #3 seed Hagerman 1-5 and 4-9. They rallied
back within 1 at 11-12 after a kill by Sydney Shears and a block by
Hailey Hanson. Hagerman then scored 5 straight points to go up by 6. Prairie never really threatened after that in the opening set. They fell behind 1-7 in the second set but rallied back to tie. A kill by Kylie Schumacher was followed by 3 aces from Tamden Pacarovich and Kylie added another kill to tie the set at 11-11. Hagerman responded with 8 straight points. Prairie was able to get back within 3 at 19-22 after a kill each by Lexi and Kylie Schumacher, and again at 20-23 and 21-24 before Hagerman scored the set-winning point. To that point Prairie had yet to hold a lead. In the third set Hagerman scored first but a kill each by Lexi and Kylie Schumacher gave Prairie their first lead of the tournament at 2-1. After Hagerman tied it, Shears scored a kill and Kaylie Lockett served an ace for a 4-2 lead. After 8 straight sideouts, a kill by Kylie Schumacher made it 9-6. Hagerman got back within 1 at 10-9 then Pecarovich scored a free ball kill and Lockett served 2 aces. Lexi Schumacher added 2 kills for a 15-9 lead. Hagerman got back within 3 at 18-15 and against at 19-16 and 20-17. At 20-17, Sierra Oliver scored a kill on a dig and Pecarovich then served out the set . She had 1 ace and Kylie Schumacher scored 3 kills including the final 2 points of the set. In the fourth set Prairie fell behind 1-4 before Hagerman bricked a serve. Lockett then served Prairie to an 8-4 lead. She had an ace to start the run then Lexi Schumacher had 4 kills and Hanson added another. Hagerman got within 2 at 9-7 but a kill by Lexi Schumacher, an ace by Mia Anderson, a block by Avery Riener and 2 more aces by Anderson made it 14-7. Hagerman came all the way back though and took a lead at 22-23. They bricked a served but Prairie was called for a double hit to give Hagerman a chance at match point. Lexi Schumacher scored a kill to tie it at 24-24. A kill each by Kylie Schumacher and Ellie Nuxoll gave Prairie the set and tied the match at 2 sets each. A block and then a kill by Hanson gave Prairie a 2-0 lead in the fifth set. Hagerman answered with 4 straight to take their first lead. A kill each by Kylie Schumacher, Lexi Schumacher and Hanson put Prairie back on top 5-4. Prairie held the lead and after a tip by Kylie Schumacher and an ace by Pecarovich were at match point at 14-10. That’s when everything fell apart. Hagerman scored a kill for the sideout. Prairie hit it into the net then Hagerman served an ace. After a Prairie timeout, a spike attempt went long, tying the score. Hagerman then served out of bounds to give Prairie 1 more match point chance. A long volley ended with Hagerman hitting the sideline with a spike to tie it. A Prairie spike went wide and then on Hagerman’s first match point chance, they blocked a Prairie spike attempt to win it. Lexi Schumacher had 30 kills in the match with 3 assists and 3 aces. Kylie Schumacher had 27 kills with 2 assists. Shears had 8 kills and 2 assists. Hanson had 8 kills, including 3 blocks, and 1 ace. Nuxoll had 4 kills, including 1 block. Riener had 2 kills, including a block, and 1 assist. Oliver had 2 kills and 1 assist. Pecarovich had 1 kills, 37 assists and 7 aces. Anderson had 1 kills, 25 assists and 3 aces. Lockett had 4 aces. Vs. Liberty Charter Early Friday morning
Prairie met Liberty Charter in a loser-out match. Liberty Charter took
a 0-2 lead but a kill by Kylie Schumacher and an ace by Pecarovich tied
it.Liberty took a 2-3 lead then bricked a serve. Lockett served Prairie to a 9-3 lead. She had 2 aces while Lexi Schumacher scored 4 kills. Liberty was able to rally back within 1 at 10-9 before a tip by Lexi Schumacher and an ace by Anderson made it 12-9. After a sideout by Liberty, Lexi Schumacher scored a kill and then served 2 aces. Kylie Schumacher added a kill for a 16-10 lead. After another trade of sideouts, Oliver served 4 straight to make it 21-11. She had an ace while Hanson scored 2 kills and Kylie Schumacher slammed down a kill. After another trade of sideouts, Pecarovich served 2 aces and Kylie Schumacher scored the set-winning kill. Pecarovich then made it 9 service points in a row by starting the second set with a 6-0 run. She had 4 aces while Shears had a kill and Hanson scored on a block. After a sideout, Hanson scored a kill and Lockett served an ace to make it 8-1. Liberty was able to rack back within 3 at 11-8 and again st 13-10. Prairie then managed to hold Liberty to just 2 points serving the rest of the way while adding a point or two themselves on serve as they pulled away to a 7-point win. Liberty took a 2-5 lead in the third set before a kill by Kylie Schumacher and 3 service aces by Lockett plus a tip by Lexi Schumacher made it 7-5. After a trade of sideouts, Hanson served 2 aces to make it 10-6. Liberty was able to get within 2 at 11-9, 13-11 and 17-15. At 17-15 Hanson scored 2 straight blocks and Pecarovich served 3 straight aces. After a kill by Hanson it was 23-15.Liberty scored a sideout but Shears scored a kill to get to match point. Coach Julie Schumacher sent Aubree Rehder in to serve in Lockett’s spot and Rehder jump served an ace to end the match. Lexi Schumacher had 17 kills and 2 aces in the match. Kylie Schumacher had 11 kills. Hanson had 7 kills, including 3 blocks, with an assist and 2 aces. Shears had 3 kills and an assist. Riener had 1 kill. Pecarovich had 19 assists and 12 aces. Anderson had 11 assists and 1 ace. Lockett had 6 aces. Oliver had 1 assist and 4 aces. Rehder had 1 ace. Nuxoll had 1 assist. Vs. Oakley Prairie faced another elimination match against Oakley where the winning team would clinch earning a state team trophy. The match didn’t start well as Prairie fell behind 0-3. They came back to tied it though at 4-4 after a kill by Lexi Schumacher and an ace by Hanson. They were unable to take the lead though. They tied the set again several more times but each time Oakly scored a sideout to retake the lead. The final tie came at 23 after 2 straight kills by Lexi Schumacher. Oakley scored a sideout on a tip and then won the set with a kill. Pecarovich scored on a free ball to give Prairie their first lead at 1-0 in the second set. Oakley answered with 4 straight points. Lexi Schumacher scored a sideout kill to make it 3-5 then added 3 more kills to give Prairie a 6-5 lead. Oakley answered with 2 ppoints but a kill by Lexi tied it then Nuxoll won a joust, Anderson served and ace and Lexi scored on a tip for a 10-7 lead. Oakley answered with 4 straight but Prairie was able to take back the lead on a kill by Nuxoll. The lead traded hands 2 more times until Kylie Schumacher tied it with a kill and Pecarovich served an ace. A block by Kylie and a kill by Hanson made it 17-14. After 2 sideouts, a tip by Lexi Schumacher and an ace by Lockett made it 20-15. Prairie then held on to win the set by 5 and even the match at a set apiece. The third set saw the lead change twice early on. 3 aces by Hanson made it 6-3. Prairie was then able to hold the lead for the rest of the set although Oakley closed within 1 at 12-11. A tip by Hanson, an ace by Pecarovich and 2 kills by Kylie Schumacher pushed the lead back to 5. The closest Oakley got the rest of the set was 3 at 22-19. They then bricked a serve. Kylie Schumacher scored a kill and after an Oakley timeout, Oliver served an ace to win the set. In the fourth set Oakley took a 0-3 lead and never gave it up. They led by as many as 10 before winning the set by 8 to force a deciding fifth set. In the fifth set Hanson and Kylie Schumacher combined on a block for a 2-1 lead. Lockett then served Prairie to a 6-1 lead as she had an ace, Lexi Schumacher had 2 kills and Hanson added another. Oakley got back within 2 at 7-5 but a kill by Lexi Schumacher, an ace by Anderson, a block by Nuxoll and a tip by Lexi made it 11-5. The teams traded points until a missed serve by Oakley made it 14-10 with Pecarovich serving. She hadn’t missed a serve the entire match until this one. Prairie then seemed to tighten up and it was here we go again like the Hagerman match. An ace by Okaley, a bad pass, a net hit and another ace and Oakley had match point at 14-15. Oliver scored a back row kill to tie it at 15 but Oakley then scored a sideout kill and a block to win the match. Lexi Schumacher had 33 kills, 1 assist and 1 ace in the match. Kylie Schumacher had 16 kills, including 3 blocks, and 2 assists. Hanson had 14 kills, including 5 blocks, and 5 aces. Shears had 4 kills. Nuxoll had 4 kills including a block. Pecarovich had 2 kills, 31 assists and 2 aces. Oliver had 1 kill and 2 aces. Anderson had 21 assists and 4 aces. Lockett had 4 aces and Riener had 3 assists. Prairie ends their season with a record of 18-14 and tied for fifth at State with Genesis Prep. Ellie Nuxoll serves against Hagerman. Lacey Schwartz makes a pass Hagerman.
