Veterans Day program at PHS Prairie Schools held a Veterans Day assembly on Monday, Nov. 11 at the PHS gym. Below are photos from the event. The entire student body attended with the Elementary students arriving by bus from the elementary school. The Idaho Dept. of Corrections color guard opened the program by presenting the colors. Jed Fitch, a Marine Corps veteran who moved to Cottonwood with his family just over a year ago, was the guest speaker. Former National VFW Chaplain and current Dept. of Idaho Chaplain Dave Frei gave the invocation and then talked about the VFW and what they do for the community. Joe Riener, current Dept. of Idaho VFW Commander, talked about the Patriots Pen and Voice of Democracy scholarship programs put on by the VFW. Prairie ASB vice president Sage Elven gave the opening remarks for the program. ASB secretary Ellie Nuxoll read "Let Freedom Ring" by TSgt. Kurt Melander. ASB co-Spirit Leader Kylie Schumacher, read "A Place Beyond the Tears" by Walt Cronin. ASB co-Spirit Leader Bailey Key read "Thank You" by Kristen Biksacky. Prairie Elementary ASB President James Lustig gave the closing remarks. After the program was over all the veterans in attendance lined up for a photo. |
