beat Potlatch 12-2
The Prairie Pirates improved to 6-0 on the season with a 12-2 win over Potlatch in their home opener Tuesday, April 6. 
Matt Baerlocher picked up his third complete-game win of the season by tossing a 4-hitter. Prairie threatened to score in the first inning but a baserunning mistake killed the threat. In the second inning Chad Arnzen hit the first pitch he saw for a leadoff home run to left field. C.J. Rieman followed with a single up the middle and advanced to second on a passed ball. Kevin Funke reached on a 1-out walk and both runners moved up on a wild pitch. Shane Doyle walked to load the bases and Jacob Riener followed with a 2-run single up the middle. 2 more runs scored when Baerlocher reached on an error to give Prairie a 5-0 lead. Another leadoff homer, this one by Tyler Crane to right center, made it 6-0 in the third inning. In the fourth inning Prairie added 2 more runs. Baerlocher hit a 1-out double down the left field line and scored on Crane’s single to left. Arnzen followed with a single and Crane scored when Rieman reached on an error. Potlatch got to Baerlocher for a pair of runs in the top of the sixth on a double, error and a single. If the game had gone another inning Baerlocher likely would’ve been pulled for Mat Forsmann as he was showing some fatigue.  The
Pirates made another inning unnecessary in the bottom of the sixth though
as they came up with 4 runs to end the game on the 10-run rule.
Forsmann led off with a single and Philip Henry was put in to pinch run so Forsmann could warm up in case he was needed to pitch. Arnzen reached on an error and Rieman followed with a single that scored Henry. Arnzen scored on a wild pitch and Jacob Nuxoll advanced Rieman to third with a groundout. Rieman scored on a passed ball. Funke then walked for the third time and Doyle brought him around for the game-ender with a double to deep left center. Prairie wound up with 11 hits in the game with Crane and Arnzen each collecting a homer and a single. Rieman and Forsmann each had a pair of singles while Doyle and Baerlocher each had a double and Riener had a single. Baerlocher had 9 strikeouts and 2 walks. The Pirates are 2-0 in league play.
