Pirates lose at Orofino
The Prairie Lady Pirates lost 3-7 at Orofino Tuesday, April 13. Prairie scored first with a 1 in the top of the first but Orofino tied it in the bottom half of the inning and then took the lead in the third. A 4-run fourth gave Orofino enough runs to win as Prairie came back with 2 in the top of the seventh. Prairie had 6 hits in the game, all singles. Kayla Holthaus, Maureen Tacke, Karel Wassmuth, Natalie Arnzen, Ashley Schaeffer and Meghan VanderPas had 1 hit each. Holthaus pitched for Prairie allowing 7 hits. The loss drops Prairie to 7-7 overall and 5-2 in league play. The game at Colfax last Thursday, April 15 and what would have been the home opener against C.V. Monday, April 19 were both lost to the weather. The Colfax game likely won’t be made up. The C.V. game is a league game and may be rescheduled.
