Pirates pounded by Kamiah
In an uninspired effort the Prairie baseball team got thrashed by Kamiah 4-22 at Cottonwood Friday, April 30.One of the Pirates few bright spots against Kamiah was Chad Arnzen's 2-run homer.
Earlier in the week Prairie had lost at Kamiah by just 1 run.
The Pirates didn’t look ready to play in this outing though as Kamiah scored 3 in the first and roughed the Pirates up for 11 runs in the second.
After two tough games earlier in the week Prairie was running out of pitching as C.J. Rieman started but after giving up 2 hits and hitting 2 batters in the second, came out while Chad Arnzen went to the mound for his first pitching effort of the season. Arnzen took one for the team as he went the rest of the way giving up 16 hits and 14 runs.
Prairie couldn’t get any runners around until the fourth inning when Rieman singled to right and Phillip Henry reached on an error. Jacob Nuxoll then singled to right center to score Rieman and Henry scored on Sean Daly’s forceout.
Prairie added 2 more in the fifth when Mat Forsmann led off with a single and Arnzen clubbed a 2-out, 2-run homer to left center.
Prairie had 7 hits in the game with Forsmann and Nuxoll collecting a pair of singles each while Arnzen had a homer and Brent Frei and Rieman had a single each.
Kamiah had 21 hits. Their number 9 hitter in the order clubbed 2 homers including a grand slam and was 4 for 4.

Prairie had 6 hits in the game with C. J. Rieman collecting a double and single and Shane Doyle and Tyler Crane had a single each.
With the win Prairie ends the regular season at 8-6 and 4-6 in league play, good for fourth place. They’ll be the fifth seed in the District Tournament as Wallace will be inserted as the fourth seed. Prairie will play Wallace at 2 p.m. Friday, May 7 at Orofino.
