team has 5 first place finishes
The Prairie girls track team finished a close second in the team standings to Grangeville in a meet at Kamiah Thursday, April 29, thanks to 5 first place finishes including 2 by Tabitha Sonnen. Tabitha won both hurdles races, taking the 100 hurdles in a personal best time of 17.1 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 52.6. Also placing first were Lauren Merrill in the long jump at 144 and Vanessa Sonnen in the triple jump at 298. The other first place finish came in the 4x100 relay as the team of Nicole Nida, Kayla Uhlenkott, Merrill and Vanessa Sonnen placed first in 54.2. Nida picked up a pair of second place finishes as she was second in the 100 in 13.1 and the 200 in 28.2. Bridget Enneking had a pair of third place finishes with a third in the 200 in 29.4 and the 800 in 2:34.0. Allison Jones tied for second in the high jump at 44. In other relays, Prairie took second in the medley in 2:04.3 and second in the 4x200 in 1:52.5. For the boys team Kelby Wilson was the only top 3 finisher as he took third in the 3200 in 11:51.8. Nida, Sonnen, 400 relay win at Kamiah Nicole Nida and Tabitha Sonnen each picked up a win as did the girls 4x100 relay at the Kamiah Invitational Track Meet Saturday, May 1. Nida won the 200 meter dash in 27.6 and was second in the 100 in 13.3. Sonnen won the 100 meter hurdles in 17.2 and was 5th in the 300 hurdles in 52.5 The 4x100 relay team of Nida, Tabitha Sonnen, Lauren Merrill and Vanessa Sonnen took first in 54.0 as Vanessa pulled past Kamiahs anchor runner to win by 1 tenth of a second. In other individual events Bridget Enneking was sixth in the 800 in 2:41.8. Vanessa Sonnen was sixth in the triple jump at 2911. Merrill was fifth in the long jump at 1310. Allison Jones was fourth in the high jump at 42. The 4x200 relay team of Nida, Kayla Uhlenkott, Tabitha Sonnen and Vanessa Sonnen was third in 1:53.3. The medley relay team of Enneking, Merrill, Uhlenkott and Vanessa Sonnen apparently finished in second place but were disqualified. In team standings the girls placed fourth with 64 points. The boys team scored just 2 points, both by J.D. Riener who placed 7th in the discus at 1189.
