On Friday, May 28, 56 steelhead fry were released
back to their natural habitat. Susan Sawyer and Megan Johnson from
the Dworshak Hatchery accompanied the group and transported the fish to
the release sight. They were very happy with the number and size
of fish we raised at Prairie Elementary. The upper photo shows the fry
in a cooler and the lower photo shows them being released. Thank you to
the Terry and Diana Holubetz for loaning us the fish tank and for the information
leading us to this project. Thank you to Susan Sawyer and the Dworshak
Hatchery for the opportunity to have a "Hatchery in the Classroom" project
and thank you to all of the students for your help in caring for and monitoring
the fish from the very beginning egg stage to fry. |
