There was an accident south of Cottonwood on highway 95 Tuesday, August 17 at about 5:30 p.m. involving a local family. Scott L. Kaschmitter, 25, of Nezperce was stopped in the southbound lane of Highway 95 waiting to turn left onto Twin Houses Road. Kaschmitter turned quickly to avoid being rear-ended by another vehicle but got hit on the rear passenger side of his 1992 Ford F250 pickup by Molly Inden, 27, of Seattle, who was northbound in a 1986 Toyota Minivan. The pickup went off the east side of the road and the minivan blocked the northbound lane for one hour. Kaschmitter and his two passengers, Sarah J. Kaschmitter, 20, and Jaylee B. Raup, 3, also of Nezperce and Inden and her passengers Todd G. Courtney, 32 or Seattle and Vance G. Gathing, 31, and Sara M. Keenan, 26, both of Chicago, all received injuries and were taken to St. Mary’s Hospital by ambulance. Inden and Courtney were transferred to St. Joseph’s in Lewiston. All were wearing seatbelts. Trooper Larsen of the Idaho State Police was the investigating officer with assistance from the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office. Investigation continues. |
