A group of four seventh graders: Kyle Holthaus, Derek Schaeffer, Conner Rieman and Joe Schumacher, and four eighth graders: Steven Barelocher, Eric and Kyle Daly and Andy Groom represented Prairie Release Time in the Hallissey tournament Feb 18-20 in Boise. Friday night they played St. Mark’s of Boise which was a team favored to win the tournament. They lost 20-46. Saturday proved to be a much better day. The first game was against Holy Apostles (Boise) and they won 50-16. The next game was a loser our game with Summit Academy. Prairie came out on top with a win of 38-25. In the third game they defeated another Boise team, Sacred Heart with a 35-24 win. Saturday night they attended the Mass at Our Lady of the Rosary church where over 1000 people were in attendance. On Sunday they faced a tough team from Buhl and lost 21-49. This gave them a 4th place out of 15 boys’ teams in the tournament. These games gave them a lot of experience, confidence and a show of good teamwork and good sportsmanship with Catholics from Idaho. The team was coached by Joe Baerlocher.
