names top seniors
Mark Uhlenkott and Shane Wemhoff are the valedictorian and salutatorian respectively for Summit Academy's first ever graduating class. Uhlenkott of Cottonwood is the valedictorian for the 2005 Senior class of Summit Academy. Uhlenkott has been involved in many activities. He played basketball for four years, participated in Knowledge Bowl, was a member of a Catholic young men’s group, volunteered at NICI, and competed at various local and state competitions. Upon graduation, Uhlenkott plans to attend Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio to major in Humanities and Christian Culture and/or Computer Science. “Of all the people that have influenced me the most,” commented Uhlenkott, “it is to my parents that I owe everything for what I am today. They have such high moral standards and have shown them to me by their example.” This summer, Uhlenkott plans to work for his dad in the family business, Uhlenkott Pump Service. He is the son of Chuck and Kerry Uhlenkott. Wemhoff of Cottonwood, son of Roger and Annette Wemhoff, is the 2005 salutatorian of Summit Academy. Wemhoff has been involved in student government for two years and is currently the student body president. He has been involved with several sports including basketball where he has been team captain for three consecutive years. Wemhoff also attends knowledge bowl, 4-H, and Catholic youth group, and has been influential in all. “I have to say that Grandpa P.J. Wren has had a big influence. From way back when I was a kid on the farm to my senior Calculus classes he has done it all. I hope he lasts another forty years in the teaching business.” After a summer loaded with a lot of farm work,Wemhoff plans to attend the University of Idaho and go for a business management and human resources degree. The cast of “Twelfth Night” practice for their outdoor play presentation this weekend. Performances will be at 5 p.m. on May 28, 29 and 30 at Summit Academy, North of Cottonwood on Substation Road. |
