Locals
take 7 of 10 state hoopshoot crowns
During the State of Idaho Knights of Columbus convention held in Moscow trophies were announced for the 2005 Idaho State Hoopshoot Champions. Grand Knight Max Nuxoll returned from the convention carrying hardware for seven State of Idaho Hoopshoot champs. Our local Cottonwood council/district winners captured seven out of ten spots. Their winning scores were submitted to compete at the international level with the results expected sometime this summer. The 2005 Knights of Columbus Idaho State champions are: Demetria Riener -10-year old girls; MaKayla Schaeffer - 11-year old girls; Beau Schlader – 11-year old boys; Rachel Wemhoff – 12-year old girls; Eric Daly – 13–year old boys; Jennifer Enneking – 14–year old girls; and Tyler Forsmann – 14-year old boys. Trophies were awarded to the winners during school assemblies held on June 3 at Prairie Middle School and Summit Academy. Council 1389 had a total of 118 boys and girls from Prairie Elementary School, Prairie Middle School, and Summit Academy participate in the annual hoopshot contest. From that pool of contestants ten winners ages 10 to 14 were named local and district champions of the 2005 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship. Their scores were submitted for competition at the state level in early March. Congratulations to the winners and we hope that these results will inspire more local boys and girls ages 10 to 14, to include home schoolers, to participate in the 2006 hoopshoot.
