Fire
Dept. has free extinguishers, smoke alarms available
The Cottonwood City Fire Department recently received a Fire Prevention
and Safety grant from the Department of Homeland Security. This grant
funds a program to educate Cottonwood residents about fire prevention and
safety. As part of this program, the department has purchased smoke
alarms and home fire extinguishers to provide to people free of charge.

St. Mary's Hospital staff started a backpack program
a number of years ago, providing backpacks to schools for needy children.
The needs seem to grow every year. Thank you to Brenda Kaschmitter
and Sherry Holthaus and all of the St. Mary's staff for providing Prairie
Middle School with backpacks.

Casey Meza, SMHC/CVHC CEO, presents a plaque to Harriet
Reece, retiring Chairperson, Joint Board of Trustees, for her 15 years
of service to healthcare in this region.

Jim May and Cheri Holthaus, SMHC Foundation, review
some of the registrations for the St. Mary's Hospital Golf Scramble at
Grangeville Country Club on September 17. Registrations for 15 teams
are due by Sept 9, but space available registrations will also be accepted
