Knights of Columbus to Sponsor Youth Free Throw Championship
All boys and girls ages 10 to 14 are invited to participate in the local level of competition for the 2006 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship. The local competition will be held January 26, 2006 at the Prairie Middle School, Prairie Elementary School, and Summit Academy gymnasiums during the PE periods throughout the day. Coordination has been made with the staff at both schools as well as the staff at Summit Academy. Home schooled students are invited to participate too. Home School parents should coordinate directly with the schools to arrange entry into the school if they would like their child to participate. The Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship is sponsored annually with winner progressing through local, district, and state competition. International champions are announced by the Kof C international headquarters based on scores from the state-level competitions. All boys and girls 10 to 14 years old as of January 1, 2006 are eligible to participate and will compete in respective age divisions. Last year more than 179,000 sharpshooters participated in 3,0000 local competitions. All contestants on the local level are recognized for their participation in the event.
