Summit
scholars back in second place
Summit Academy’s high school knowledge bowl team tool advantage of some of the toughest questions of the year last week, as their two-team scores of 160 and 130 were good enough to place second and fourth in the team competition, with their combined score of 290 good enough for their first league win of the 2005/2006 season. Emerging at the top in the individual team competition was a team from Prairie High School, with Summit second, then a Grangeville team third, and Summit’s second team locked in a three way tie for fourth at 130. The two-team total of 290 posted by Summit was just enough to edge the 260 total credited to Grangeville, their only second place finish of the year. School standings are determined each meet by adding the scores of the top two teams entered at each meet, with 10 points given to the first place finisher, nine to the second, eight to the third on down. Standings after four meets, with four to go currently show Grangeville still in first with 39 points, Summit moving up into a tie with Nezperce, each having 34 points, Prairie next, and the other four schools in the league close behind. Representing Summit at the meet were seniors Chris Hattrup, Brandon Rehder, and Lauren Wemhoff, juniors Alyssa Frei, Amber Nuxoll, Emily Rehder and Jacob Uhlenkott, sophomores Zach Frei, and Chase Nuxoll, and freshmen Kim Frei, Michael Hattrup, Joseph Lustig, and Brianne Stubbers. Next action for the high school division of knowledge bowl is in February at Timberline, Junior high teams will meet in Grangeville February 6 for their fifth meet. Photos from Summit's games with Nezperce Saturday, Jan. 28 Writeups of the games will be available next week.
