Karel
wins spelling bee
On Thursday February 8, 2006 10 students participated in the Cottonwood School District's spelling bee. After about 15 minutes we were down to the two finalists who then squared off to see who would advance to the Lewiston Bee on March 11, 2006. Joshwa Zigler and Mike Karel battled for another 15 minutes--both would spell their words correctly prompting another round. Then, one would get the word correct in a round and the other would miss it--this then required the person to spell one more word correctly to become the winner--that person missed the word requiring a whole new round. This process took place for about 15 minutes with Mike Karel battling to be number 1. Congratulations to all 10 participants on a job well done. Mike and Joshua received a medal for being the Cottonwood winners and all participants received a certificate of participation. 1st place winner, Mike Karel, will represent Prairie at the Lewiston Bee on March 11th. |
