Things Are True
by Pastor Dan Coburn Wise persons, counselors, archetypal manifestations, higher self, divine master, inner guide, inner wisdom, transpersonal self, ally, imaginary doctor, guardian angel, sentinels, godlings of the depths of the psyche. What do these all have in common? They are (Biblically) demons, but to the world, Spirit Guides, or Helpers. That’s right. You can say it out-loud. You couldn’t when I was a kid. It was something whispered in only select circles. Now, however, it is as mainstream as anything else you can name. It is by no means an accident. No one ever spoke of homosexuality when I was a kid either, but now there is by design a token homosexual character on almost every television show. In fact, there are now networks devoted to this effort to “mainstream” this practice. Likewise, there is a huge push to “mainstream” Psychics and Mediums. You can talk about abductions, sightings of ET, witches, warlocks, vampires (also very trendy), and the world is your friend, but mention demons, and you are a “Loon”. So what do we have then? You have Crossing Over, and Psychic Detectives, and all manor of talk shows where a Medium will contact Aunt Maude for you. Remember Cleo and the Psychic Friends network? They went bankrupt. You’d think they would have seen that coming. I don’t mean to laugh, cause it really is serious. God says in Deut. 18 and elsewhere, not that it is phony, but that it is “detestable” to Him. It makes Him sick. He says “My people will have nothing to do with it”. In Isaiah, he says sarcastically: “why do you consult the dead when you have a living God?”. As funny as that may sound, can you imagine standing before Jesus and answering that question? First of all, we are not consulting the dead. It is appointed each man “once to die, and then the judgement”. Neither Jesus or any of His disciples ever cast out “Aunt Maude”. So what’s going on? The Bible calls these “familiar spirits”, and it goes something like this. You go off by yourself and do something secret. Later you are talking to a medium, who is in contact with (or under the control of) a demon. The demon identifies himself as long lost Aunt Maude, and reveals your secret. You think this must be real. It’s real alright, but it is not what you think. The world will tell you the test is this. If the “Spirit does good, it is of God, and if it does evil, it is of Satan. After all, Psychics help police find missing children don’t they? Our culture has so openly received this practice as to refer to it as a “gift”. From where? It is not of God. So can a demon do good things to deceive you? “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their work.” 2nd Cor. 11:14-15. “My people perish for lack of knowledge”. |
