On Sept. 20th, the Grangeville Elks represented by Esteemed Loyal Knight Jay Hinterlong came to the Summit Academy and Prairie Elementary School to present this years third graders with their new dictionaries. This practice was started last year, and will continue every year from now on. Thanks to the teachers and staff for their co-operation in allowing the Elks to accomplish this endeavor. The top photo shows Hinterlong with Prairie Elementary third graders and in the bottom photo he is shown with Summit Academy third graders.

With the awarding of a $10,000 grant from the Idaho Professional Technical Grant Committee, trading in the old laser, and $3,000 from the TSA fund, the Prairie High Industrial Technology Program was able to upgrade their old laser. Money for TSA comes from the sale of products that TSA club members and Prairie High students make, from building storage buildings, bat boxes, donations from individuals that we have built items for, and from private donations. The laser engraver is another machine used to prepare students for the real world. Students engrave wood products they have made, as well as glass, vinyl, leather, corian, marble, and tile. We do not have yet, but will be working towards purchasing a rotary engraver allowing the students to engrave on christmas ornaments, and cylindrical objects, like champagne glasses. Without the help of several people this could not have been made possible. Their kindness is greatly appreciated. Shown is the new laser and on the shelves above are samples of the work being done with it.

Tony and Shawn Severson, RN, SMH Home Health Director share a moment. Tony and the SMH staff have formed a special friendship recently.
