Summit Jr. High team adds another win
Playing locally Prairie Middle School girls, Summit Academy’s Patriots dropped their seventh grade match by a score of 20 to 14 to the Pirates from Prairie, but roared back in the second game to take an exciting but narrow victory over Prairie 8th Thursday evening by a score of 22 to 20.
Scores in the final game were by quarters 2-2, 8-4, 14-9, and then the final 22-20 as Prairie outscored the Patriots 11 to 8 in the final hectic quarter to close to two at the end.
Three games remain on the regular season schedule for the Patriot team, with members as follows:  Eighth graders:  Vicki Schlader, Jamie Chmelik, and Rachel Wemhoff.  Seventh graders are Savannah Kuther, Nicole Frei, Savanah Prigge, Rachel Uhlenkott, and Cortney Schwartz.  Brandee Seubert, also a seventh grader, is on the team, but was unable to play that evening.  Sixth graders on the team are Cassidy Stubbers, Brooke Schumacher, and Tanna Schlader.  Both teams are coached by Julie Schumacher.

Summit volleyball team wins one, loses one
Playing before a large and enthusiastic crowd Monday evening, Summit’s volleyball team closed out their regular season with a stirring but losing effort against a regular nemesis, Pullman Christian of Pullman, Washington.
With serves, digs, sets, and spikes working to near perfection the Patriots moved out to a big lead in game one, winning by the largest margin of any game this season.  Game two started off the same way, but miscues creeping in saw the local girls drop a close one right at the end.  Games three and four proved to be the same, as problems with the serve, and misdirected slams proved to be their downfall as they dropped the evening match 3 games to one.
Summit JV’s had a little better time of it however, dropping their Eagle friends from Pullman in all three games.  Exact scores for the evening unavailable.
Final action for the Patriots is at Moscow Friday, where the local girls enter a multi-state invitational at Logos, playing four times that day, beginning at 11:30.  The top four teams will then return on Saturday in a face off to determine the tourney champion.
After the Monday game, the final tribute to the senior girls was paid by Coach Shirley Stubbers, spirit leader Kim Frei, and an enthusiastic group of student fans and parents.  Ending their home-play careers as volleyball players are Alyssa Frei, Amber Nuxoll, Alexa Prigge, Emily Rehder, and Cori Wemhoff.  Junior Danielle Stubbers, and soph Brianne Stubbers finish out the varsity team.
