out for girls basketball
There are 25 girls turned out for basketball this year with a mostly new coaching staff. Steve Wilson is the new head coach this season, promoted from JV when Dave Snodgrass retired as coach. Lynn Guyer is the JV coach and Dustin Behler will coach the C team. 
Wilson said they only have one starter back from last year’s team, Tiffany Schaeffer, and she won’t be available until after Christmas due to knee surgery. He said they’ll like play 8-10 girls each game and play intense, full-court defense. They’ll be looking to create offense from their defense. Varsity players will be seniors Randi Schumacher, Becky Gehring, Kylie Uhlorn, Nicole Nida, Tabitha Sonnen and Meghan VanderPas. Juniors will be Sarah Arnzen, Chantel Boniecki, Kim Schaeffer and Tiffany Schaeffer. Sophomores are Kara Guyer, Kristi Poxleitner, Kaylee Uhlenkott and Jennifer Enneking. Kim Schaeffer, Boniecki, Poxletiner and Guyer will also play JV and will be the likely JV starters along with junior Emily Lerandeau. Junior Christa Wilson and freshmen Sam Frei, NaTosha Schaeffer, Hilaree VanderPas, Alena Hoene, Casey Bruegeman and Amber Holthaus will fill out the JV squad. Holthaus, Bruegeman, Hoene, Frei, NaTosha Schaeffer, Hilaree VanderPas and Gina Seubert will make up the C team. The varsity girls saw their first action this past Tuesday evening in a Jamboree at Clearwater Valley. Their first regular season game will be Tuesday, Nov. 14 at home against Grangeville.
