City
has new street sweeper
On Monday, October 30th, the City of Cottonwood took delivery of its new street sweeper. It is a 2007 Elgin vacuum type sweeper, the purchase of which was made possible by a CMAQ grant through the Idaho Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration. The grant was sponsored by the West Camas Highway Association and the City of Cottonwood. The total amount of the grant was $185,000 with the City being responsible for a 7.34% or $13,579 match. The truck is similar to a large wet or dry vacuum cleaner that not only provides dust free street sweeping but is also equipped with a suction and high pressure wash feature for cleaning manholes, sumps, meter basins and storm drain catch basins. Representatives from Metroquip of Boise were in town Monday and Tuesday for training of the Public Works crews on operation and maintenance of the new equipment. |
