Cochran
to attend leadership forum
Drew Cochran, a current 5th grader at Prairie Middle School, was nominated and accepted into the People to People World Leadership Forum. He will join a select group of students in the sixth through eighth grade from around the world in Washington DC next September. While there they will earn high school credit while studying leadership and exploring some of the United States most prominent monuments and institutions. From Capitol Hill to the Smithsonian Institution, and from Colonial Williamsburg to the National Museumm of American History, he will examine the characteristics of American leadership during times of national challenge and prosperity. Forum delegates will also partiipate in small-group discussions and exercises to experience first hand how successful leaders develop strategies, make decisions, build consensus, and foster change. Drew was nominated and accepted for the honor based on outstanding scholastic merit, civic involvement and leadership potential. The program is coordinated by People to People Student Ambassador Programs to fulfill the vision Dwight D. Eisenhower had for fostering world citizenship when he founded People to People during his presidency in 1956. In order to attend the forum the students have to raise just under $3000 to pay for the program as well as airfare. Drew will be doing fundraising for the next several months in order to earn that money. If you have any odd jobs you need done for a few dollars please give him a call at 962-3914. Any donations would be appreciated and can be sent to Drew Cochran PO Box 562 Cottonwood ID 83522. An account will be set up at Cottonwood Credit Union as well. |
