lose at Timberline
The Prairie Pirates couldn’t get much of anything going offensively until late in the third quarter and by then they were down by 19 points as they fell to the Timberline Spartans 38-46 at Weippe Friday, Jan. 19. Prairie nearly went 0 for the first quarter as their only point was a free throw by Corey Schaeffer with 51 seconds left. They were 0 for 10 from the field and 1 for 4 at the line as Timberline took a 1-9 lead into the second period. Ryan Daly scored Prairie’s first basket of the game with 5:27 left in the half and J.D. Riener added 2 more baskets in the second quarter as Prairie mustered only 7 points in the first half. They were still in the game though as Timberline scored only 17. The margin was still 14 at the end of the quarter at 18-32. Timberline scored the first two baskets of the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 18 at 18-36. Prairie then mounted a comeback attempt.
