Sonnen
wins 100 hurdles at Area Best Meet
Tabitha Sonnen won the 100 meter hurdles race at the District II Meet of Champions Thursday, May 3 at Lewistons Vollmer Bowl. Her winning time was 16.18 seconds. She also placed 4th in both the triple jump at 315 and the 300 hurdles in 50.26. Nicole Nida also placed in three events as she was second in the 100 meter dash in a time of 12.76 seconds; fourth in the 200 meter dash in 26.98 and fourth in the 400 meter dash in 1:02.53. Sonnen and Nida were also part of the third place 4x100 meter relay team. Sonnen led off with NaTosha Schaeffer 2nd, Gina Holthaus 3rd and Nida running the anchor leg. Their time was 53.11. Kaylee Uhlenkott took third in the shot put with a throw of 3410. Charlene Duman took fifth in the event at 335. Duman was also 6th in the discus at 1039. Sienna Benton placed 5th in the 1600 at 5:49.43 and 7th in the 800 at 2:30.97. Samantha Frei was 10th in the 1600 at 6:07.72 and 12th in the 800 at 2:39.11. Frei was also 7th in the high jump at 46. Holthaus placed 6th in the long jump. Schaeffer took 7th in the 300 hurdles in 52.50. The girls 4x200 relay took 5th in a time of 1:58.16. Team members were Randi Schumacher, Holthaus, Benton and Katie Nuxoll. The girls 4x400 relay team of Schumacher, Nuxoll, Holthaus and Schaeffer placed 6th in 4:32.40. For the boys team J.D. Riener took second in the shot put at 512½ and third in the discus at 15211. Vit Spanhel took 7th in the long jump with a mark of 179¼. The boys 4x400 team of Spanhel, Zach Frei, Tyrell Langston and Daniel Sigler placed 7th.
