Cottonwood's
population increases
The Idaho Dept. of Commerce and Labor recently released population figures for all the incorporated cities in the state. Cottonwood and Ferdinand both show an increase. Ferdinand’s population was listed at 144 in 2000, 146 in 2006 and 147 this year. 0.7% over last year and 2.1% over 2000. Cottonwood showed a much more substantial increase over the past 7 years. Cottonwood showed a population of 941 in 2000. That had increased by 99 to 1,040 by 2006 and 6 more were added by 2007. This is an increase of 0.6% over last year and 11.2% over the 2000 census figures. Cottonwood was the fastest growing community in the area as most of the area communities showed only slight increases or declines. Craigmont was +1 over last year but down 9 since 2000 with a current population on 547. Nezperce was also +1 over last year but down 8 from 2000 at 514. Grangeville was +21 over 2006 but down 42 from 2000 at 3,177. Winchester was the most stable with a +1 over 2006 but dead even with 2000 at 308. |
