23 is write-in candidate deadline
October 23 is the deadline to file as a write-in candidate for the city elections. Currently the City of Cottonwood has 4 people running for the five positions on the city council. Mayor Denis Duman is running for re-election as are Shelli Schumacher and Jack Duman for their council positions. Jay Hinterlong is seeking election to the position he was appointed to fill while Jim Steinke has declined to run for election. That’s leaves a 2-year position open for election. Only those that file as a write-in by the October 23 deadline will be allowed to run. If no one files, the new council will be able to appoint someone in January. The City of Ferdinand has a full slate of candidates for the open positions. Gabriel Riener is the lone candidate for mayor as Paul Schmidt has declined to run for re-election. Judy Forsman and Maria Imhoff are running for re-election to their council seats with no opposition at this time. |
